Let's Start With This One...

It has been a while since I did a Sunday Bake. With the endless recipes in December and manic pieces of January, I got lost and didn’t post any. However, before we end February, I thought I would change that. Having found a super easy one that you can do in no time at all today! 

With only two ingredients needed, this Ice Cream bread is the perfect dessert or tea time delight. One you can make again and again. Find out everything you need to know and do below: 

Ingredients:

• 2 Cups Soft Ice Cream 
• 1 1/2 Cups Self-Raising Flour
• Sprinkles or Sugar For The Top (Optional)

Tools:

• Bread Loaf Tin
• Mixing Bowl
• Mixing Spoon
• Toothpick
• Cooling Rack

Method:

Make sure you have all your ingredients ready. Then set your oven to 350F/180C, before greasing a bread loaf tin. Place this to one side.

Take your ice cream and stir until melted and smooth. Then in a large bowl, mix the ice cream and flour together, but don’t over mix. 

Once ready, pour the mixture into your prepared tin. Add your sprinkles or toppings now if using them.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. 

Cool in the pan on a cooling rack for 5 minutes. Remove from the pan and allow to cool the rest of the way on a cooling rack. 

Once it has cooled down a little, enjoy the bread warm or at room temperature. Make sure to store it in an airtight container for around three days lovelies. 

Who said you can’t enjoy ice cream in winter!

Good Morning Lovelies, 

February is the month of love. Whether it be with your partner, friends or family members, it is a time to simply stop and declare your undying love for those around you. This idea has influenced my reading this month. 

Continuing with my poetry book, which took a romantic turn for February, I also found myself reading a few others that focused on family based relationships. However, I’ve also brought a few this month that focus on relationships to. However, they will be coming up later.

Children’s books can be really gems when it comes to tackling relationships and I’ve loved reading about one of my favourite childhood characters again. Tracy Beaker was always a literary hero of mine and this book is fab. Granny Torrelli was actually a story I had never heard of, but found on a book donations shelf in Tesco. I read it within a day because it was so good. 

Both are fun, have good and bad situations and are reads the whole family can enjoy. Once I’ve picked my next reads, I will definitely let you know what I think of them in March.

Good Morning Lovelies, 

Has Valentine’s Day made you fall in love with your beau all over again? So much so that you haven’t been able to put your phone down in case they call or text? If so, then I know that you may be worrying about having enough battery life to reply.

Kindly gifted all three items to trial, I was hugely surprised by my love for them. Especially the magnetic battery. With my iPhone 13 continuously at my side, I use it for everything. Blogging, scheduling my diary and speaking to all my loved ones, I like to make sure that my battery is always above the 50% mark. Yet, it can be hard to always carry around a charger and plug. 

The magnetic battery makes this so much easier though. Once charged up, with the easy to plug in cable, you simple click it onto your phone, turn it on and away you go. Your phone is being charged. And it does so very quickly. With a few holidays planned this year, instantly knew that the item would be the best thing to take with me. Plus, gifting one of them, after being sent two, to my mum, I can also guarantee that she will be able to keep her phone up to scratch too. 

However, if her phone wasn’t able to connect with the battery, the power bank was equally brilliant. For both of us in fact. Again, after a quick charge with it’s easy to use cable, we were both able to move and be on the go, without the worries that our phones would die. Something that left both of us feeling so much happier. 

Finally, I put the headphones to the test. Having brought a new laptop recently, I have been looking for some comfy over the ear ones to use with it. Luckily, with the simply touch of a button, I have found my perfect pair. Testing them in bed, with a good old film, I could relax in comfort without the fear that I was going to lose a earphone in bed if I dozed off. An event that has happened quite a few times in the past. 

Ultimately, I was very impressed with all the items. Anker only came into my life last year, but every product I have tried by them has always left me happy, more confident and determined to get more items from the brand to make my house and life easier and better. Something that they have been doing since we met. And I am not just saying that.

Good Morning Lovelies, 

Nobody puts Baby in a corner - but the Dominion Theatre do put people in seats ready to have the time of their lives!

Curtain lifts and the theatre show begins! Frederico Ballone, the show‘s director, managed to do a great job of knowing the audience and giving them what they need! From the moment the show starts to the last note of the closing performance, the songs are the ones you expected, the lines perfectly match all of the best lines from the show and the costume design is spot on from Baby’s white plimsoles to Johnny’s high waisted black trousers to Penny’s red heels.

The show really did bring the film alive, highlighting and re-enacting the most important scenes whilst adding that little bit of theatre pizazz that we all love. The scene in the river was wonderfully interpreted – the light dimmed and both Michael O’Reilly and Kira Malou (Johnny and Baby) appeared on top of a log practising their balance. This scene of course evoked cheers from the audience as it is a firm favourite from the film! The lights dimmed again and like magic the pair appeared surrounded by water behind a screen that set a forest surrounding. And just like that, they did the lift for the first time!

Now onto the acting. The portrayal of Baby’s character was brilliantly done by lead actress Kira Malou. The flicks of the feet, the iconic and recognisable clumsy movement and the innocent giggles – all perfectly re-enacted and true to the performance given by Jennifer Grey in the original film. Michael O’Reilly did a fantastic job of portraying Johnny with his well balanced dancing, powerful and strong projecting voice. O’Reilly also managed to push his hair back in such a way that it was easy to mistake him for the late Patrick Swayze! A noteworthy performance was also given from Carlie Milner who had the pleasure of playing Penny. She has the elegance and poise that Cynthia Rhodes did during the original movie. Her dancing was immaculate and the scenes she danced through with O’Reilly were flawless.

Of course something that we must mention is the abortion scene. They do very well to approach this subtly and sensitively without showing anything graphic. The era’s political and racial divisions are also referenced throughout – at one point a radio sound clip of Martin Luther King Jr. is played which really helped to shine a spotlight on the times.

In moments the show did feel like it rushed through certain scenes in order to fit all of the iconic parts in – some scenes suffered more than others because of this. One of these that felt the hit was the Love is Strange by Mickey and Sylvia scene where Johnny and Baby are crawling towards each other in the beautifully 80s studio – you didn’t hear the memorable “Sylvia? Yes Mickey?” and no crawling took place.

The show came to a close and as expected the entire audience were on their feet clapping and dancing. It would have been nice to have had a little final sing through of the most famous tracks, like is done in the Mamma Mia show. The audience had been desperately trying not to sing and shout throughout the whole show so would have appreciated a little longer to let off steam at the end!

All in all, if you love the film you’ll love the show! I’ve never felt so much energy from an audience at a theatre show, so if you’re looking for an energising and nostalgic night then this is the one for you!

Good Morning Lovelies,

14 months ago, me and my mum were left as a twosome. Our famous trio was missing the man in our lives. Whilst we will never replace my dad, we are now doing things for ourselves. Including making sure that we look after each other.

Due to my anorexia, my mum has become my full time carer. So, to repay her for all her help, I like to do little things that show her how much I appreciate it. These little things cost nothing or little to nothing at all and she really enjoys them. 

There so, I have gathered a few ideas or plans I have done for her that you can do for the special ladies in your life this Galentine’s Day…

Watching A Film or Show Together: My mum works early mornings, which means that the weekends or holidays are normally the only time we get to sit down together and watch a film or show later in the day together. Putting on something we have both been looking forward to is always lovely. Especially when we snuggle up together. Simple and so easy to do. 

A Pamper Evening: My mum works long hours, especially on a Tuesday. After collecting me from my volunteering at a local charity shop, I come home and make sure she knows how thankful I am for her by running her a luxurious bath and sending her to her room to rest. Sorting out a simple bath, with bubbles, bath salts and fresh pjs for after fills my heart with joy. As well as my mum’s. 

A Coffee Pit Stop: When we go out, I try to push myself and have a coffee stop with my mum. Whilst I can’t drink caffeine, as my body doesn’t like it, I treat her to one. Yet, every Sunday at home, I go all out and make her a special latte. At Christmas, she got a gingerbread syrup and I use my milk frothy to make her a special drink. Oh, and a cake! 

Sleepover Club: Me and my mum are best friends. We look after each other, even in our sleep. Since my dad died, we have regular sleepovers, in which we snuggle up in her bed and watch something or chat. Having suffered from panic attacks all my life, these nights can make all the difference at times. Someone to hold my hand when times are tough means everything. Never be afraid to have a sleepover, especially when you need that special someone by your side. 

Holiday, Celebrate: Last year, for my mum’s birthday, I decided to take her away for a couple of days. It was perfect and just what we needed. Although it wasn’t abroad or a fancy trip, it was special to us and proved that we could do things just us two. We’ve booked two trips for this year and I can’t wait. 

Making Plans With The Girls: Finally, I like to make plans for my mum with her friends. I know that she worries about going out, but I like her to go out and enjoy herself and she always does. Seeing and hearing her tell me all about what happened on a night out with the girls fills my heart with joy. I will never stop making big nights out for her because of it. 

These are just a few simple things I do for the most amazing woman in my life lovelies. They are simple, but mean a lot to us both. Something that always matters. Galentine’s Day will definitely be celebrated with one of these ideas happening and I can’t wait. How are you celebrating with your favourite ladies today? Or how do you like to celebrate them?

Good Morning Lovelies, 

On Wednesday night, the team behind Marco Pierre White’s new restaurant in Leicester Square, Mr White’s, invited me and my family down to enjoy the official launch of it. And boy was it a night! 

Turning up at 6:30pm, we were greeted kindly by the team, who lead us upstairs to where the event was being held. This allowed other diners to enjoy their meals downstairs, whilst the party happened upstairs. Greeted with a beautiful band, singing all types of songs including Disney ones, the night kicked off with the offer of free wine and beer. Something my brother was very happy with. 

With famous faces taking to the launch, my mum and brother got the chance to meet the likes of Vanessa Feltz and Terry Stone, who were absolutely lovely, as they took to the dance floor. All before the famous pizza was served. 

Fresh from the restaurant’s pizza ovens, the oozy gooey pizza, was plenty for my family to enjoy. Although, we would have loved to have seen and tried one of the steaks on the menu. Something that we will definitely be going back for in the future. 

As the night continued and the pizza went down, strawberry mojitos were presented to us, before the offer of tequila shots. Sweet and perfect as a cleanser after the pizza. The night continued with great music, more drinks and even more dancing, before we headed into London’s flowing nightlife to catch the train home. 

Looking at the menu, there is something for everyone at the restaurant. Even though it may seem fancy from the outside, Mr White’s welcomes everyone in to try a famous Marco recipe and there is no doubt that you will enjoy what you pick. 

Spending the night with great music, people and food is always a winner in our house. This event definitely delivered that for all of us. That steak is already calling my family back asap! If not that, then definitely the pizza. All of which, is affordable for a famous chef’s restaurant.

Good Morning Lovelies, 

Love is truly in the air on the blog now! Normally I don’t get involved with Valentine’s Day, but this year, I am going all out. Yet, I am turning it into Galentine’s Day! 

This has led me to seeking out the best gifts and decorations on the market, to help me find the perfect treats for the lovely ladies I know. Thankfully, Holland and Barrett, have created an online and in store selection that is perfect. 

Kindly gifted a few items to trial, I was able to give them all a little present to celebrate the big day. Starting with my mum! Waking up at the weekend, we normally treat Sunday’s as self-care day. This sees us resting at home, with candles, cosy clothes and cups of tea, warm juice and coffee galore. 

There so, it was the perfect day to whip out the Psychic Sisters Love Mini Candle and Pukka Love Tea Bags that H&B sent me. Created with aromatherapy oils, the candle was rose and lavender scented. Perfect for the bathroom or bedroom, to help those smelling it to unwind at the end of the day. 

Although it said it was mini, the candle isn’t small at all and burnt for a long time. Meaning our whole house smelt gorgeous throughout the day. Something that even lasted when we blew it out. 

With this in mind, we put the tea to the test next. Made with the same plants as the candle, but with added camomile and elderflower. Again a perfect blend to enjoy at the end of the day with your love. As someone who likes flavoured teas, I decided my mum was the best person to try this, as she normally has coffee. There so, making this very different. 

At first she wasn’t sure at all. Yet, the more she tried it, the more she found herself falling for it. Whilst she wasn’t about to give up her coffee, she stated that it would be perfect for those looking for an occasion loving cup of something different. 

The last items I was gifted were a selection of Dirty Cow Chocolate Bars. Priced at £3.69, they are a bit pricey. Although, you do get a lot of taste and bar for your money. Plus, if you can’t splurge a little for the person you love, when can you? Even if it is on yourself! 

With four flavours to choose from, including, Chunky Dunky, Cookie No Cream, Honey Come Home and Salty Susan, the bars featured the likes of honeycomb, Bourbon biscuits, salted pretzels and chocolate chip cookies to add extra textures. Each bar appeared like a chocolate that Ben & Jerry’s could have made in fact. 

Deciding to gift the chocolates to my lovely neighbours, I have wrapped them up and prepared them for each of them. There was a bar I felt that fitted each of them to a T and I hope that they enjoy them. Something I think they will do! 

Valentine’s Day can be simple or hard for many, but it is brilliant to see different companies helping to make it easier. I would never have thought of looking at Holland and Barrett’s website, but now I will. Not just on Valentine’s Day, but also at Christmas, Easter and other special occasions. I can sense it being very very helpful.

Years ago, I used to do monthly favourite posts. However, when my illness hooked in, I couldn’t be bothered. That has all changed now though! Finding inspiration from others and the feeling of wanting to give you all a little more of an inside look into my home and life, I have gathered my favourites from the first month of 2022. 

Let’s start the year with these ones…

My Favourite Read Has Been: After falling in love with his podcast - mentioned below - I had to read Rob Beckett’s book, A Class Act. Full of funny moments and memories, this book will have you laughing, crying and appreciating the star a whole lot more. I now want a man just like him in my life.

My Favourite Shows and Films Have Been: It was a bit of a random month regarding TV and films for me. I found myself turning to reality TV a lot, with the return of The Apprentice keeping me very entertained. Regarding films, I adored Belfast, which you should all go and see in cinemas, as soon as possible. 

My Favourite Beauty Item Has Been: I have made a vow this year to try and use up the items I have. This has led me to delve back into my fragrance collection. Rediscovering scents I have loved and being back fond memories has been amazing. Especially when I found the gorgeous Marc Jacobs Daisy scents reminding me of gorgeous summers long ago. I’ve been wearing it when I want to feel fancy all over again.

My Favourite Food Find Has Been: January brought with it the chance for me to try some new foods. Something I have fallen in love with, right near the end of the month, was Sweet Freedom Butterscotch Syrup. Only available at Aldi, I am now so afraid I won’t be able to get it again that I have stocked up on it. Please don’t stop making it Sweet Freedom.

My Favourite Podcast Has Been: Randomly stumbling upon the Parenting Hell podcast has been a life changing thing for me. Although, I don’t want children myself, Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe, are giving me life with their stories about parenting life. One of the best moments so far has to be the episode where Rob tells us all about Tony Ramos in Tenerife. 

My Favourite Experience Was: January can be a cold and dark month, but for me, it was the month I managed to get a lot of future plans sorted. After splurging on a new MacBook Air, I held meetings, spoke to interesting people and made a lot of changes that I hope will be positive ones in my life. Watch this space!
