When the franchise first started, Olympus Has Fallen was a winner. Now as Angel Has Fallen comes out on DVD, Blu-Ray and digitally from today, it seems that Gerard Butler’s Die Hard wannabe Mike Banning has started to go on a downward spiral himself.

Fighting to save the world once again, the action is taken to new heights as Branning takes on the high-tech evil figures who are trying to bring him down. However, he isn’t alone this time around with his friend Danny Houston taking on a role alongside him.

The film is as predictable as you might guess, with everything happening within it that you would expect. Butler says the lines one would imagine being in an action film with the same power as an action man.

Yet, with this being his third outing in the series, it has lost all the power it once had as a film. As a character even. Nothing comes across in a fun or authentic way. In a lot of cases, it is all just like he has made it for the hell of it. Instead of the passion that was once reflected in the series.

The action is nowhere near as thrilling as it used to be. Everything looks like it has been made on a small budget. The baddies don’t seem to care if they are caught even. As for the plot, it is a predictable story that you will guess in the first few moments of starting the feature.

If you have seen the other films in the franchise than this is for you. If you haven’t, maybe give this one a miss before seeing the others. Whilst Butler tries to continue with the character, he is unable to save him and the country at once. A sad fact for a once-promising and thrilling action feature and series.
