Hey Lovelies,

2019 seems to be transporting us back in time to the 80s. Political uproar, big hair and crazy nostalgia, is causing the world to go a little bit mad for the decade. Especially in the world of TV. From Stranger Things to Pose, and as of next week, American Horror Story: 1984, there seems no stopping it from taking over. Rightly so, when it can bring so much joy and horror all at the same time.

To celebrate the premiere of AHS: 1984 on the Fox Network from 19th Sept and the launch of the latest season American Horror Story: Apocalypse, on DVD and Blu-ray this week, I have therefore decided to step back in time. We are going to have an 80s viewing party that even the ghosts and ghouls of AHS won’t be prepared for.

It is time to gather your AHS friends, neighbours and even the ghosts who live in your home, for a night they won’t forget. Because if there was ever a time to host an 80s themed viewing party, it is now. Just make sure to have these vital essentials:

Decorations: Bright colours, vinyl’s and the biggest sunglasses you can put out on display, Party Delights have some amazing 1980s themed decorations to kit out your home. Essentially though, it is all about the colours. The more extreme the better. The more used even greater. Plus, if you have an old boombox, now is the time to get it out. You may need to dance those shivers away after the episode.

Food and Drink: Bring back a classic with a cheese and pineapple hedgehog for your 80s party. Adorn the table with a punch (alcohol optional). Fill bowls with Space Raiders. Stack up on potato waffles, chicken nuggets and fancy finger foods. Stock up on Diet Coke or go crazy with a Squeezeit. Whatever 80s food and drink you can find, bring it to the party and see your guests get nostalgic about the classics again.

Fashion: The bigger the hair the better. Shell Suits, shoulder pads, mini skirts and leg warmers. All huge, all great. Get your guests to dress up in their finest and embrace what the fashion was like. If you were alive during the 80s, it will bring back warm or close enough memories, whilst if you weren’t you will get to experience the beauty of it. One thing is for certain, you will soon be inspired by the clothes you see on screen.

Music: Madonna. Boy George. Wham! All must have music to add to your playlist. Fill it up with the classics from many 80s film soundtracks and you have a night of endless dancing and singing. It will be hair raising, beautiful and full of cheese. You will end up loving it.

Films: Top Gun. Dirty Dancing. Ghostbusters. If you aren’t sure about what to watch after AHS has ended or just before, pop one of these on. The 80s was the birthplace for many great feature films that are still legendary today. You could even make your night’s fancy dress theme based around them. But do remember: Nobody puts Baby in the corner.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse is available now on Blu-ray and DVD, whilst American Horror Story: 1984 premieres on FOX on 19th September at 10pm lovelies!
