Let's Start With This One...

Hey Lovelies, 

Peaky Blinders is my favourite TV show. Along with Friends, it hooks me in, to the point that I binged the entire box set, up until series four, in one weekend. I then brought the box set, a Christmas jumper and my mum set me up with some pretty cool Tommy Shelby coasters.

You can only imagine my excitement yesterday when the fifth series trailer dropped. It was full of action, darkness and overall Shelby goodness. The only thing that was missing was a start date, which I am begging is soon because I need the gang back in my life.

If you have never seen the show, I cannot recommend it enough lovelies. However, I will warn you that it does come with the following side effects:

1. You will vow to take the show slowly, appreciating each moment of it. This will turn into a weekend spent binge-watching the lot, starting your own fan page and stalking the cast on social media at all times of the day.

2. Tommy Shelby will become perfect husband material! From protecting his family, falling for Grace and broody in a corner of the Garrison, everything about him will make your next partner seem a little bit unworthy. Shelby Limited is to blame for this.

3. The more you watch the show, the more you will start to copy the way Arthur says, “Peaky Blinders,” to people. A deep Brummy accent is always a must after series one anyway.

4. Aunt Polly and all the other women in the show will inspire you to kick ass and strut your way down any street you are on. Don’t come near me the day after watching the show lovelies if you see me walking down the street. I am on a Peaky Blinders power stroll.


5. When a Shelby gets hurt you will take it personally. Forgetting about your own family members, you will start to plan your revenge and debate it with others who are also watching the show, before realising that you may need to stop the binge-watch. As much as we love them, the Shelby’s probably don’t need our help.

6. And when a character we love dies, you will want to take a personal day from work to grieve the loss of them from the show. Warning, this will happen after the first episode of season four for certain.

7. You will start to see men wearing the Newsboy/Bakerboys caps everywhere during winter and wonder if you should buy one for the man in your life…

8. …As well as the Peaky Blinders haircut. After the first episode of the new series, you will witness bald patches of hair appearing everywhere. By the end of the series, you will be buying the hats for everyone you see on the street.

9. Anything you see featuring the cast will draw you in. Cillian Murphy starring in a play in Dublin? Tickets booked, hotel sorted, flights arranged. Anyone else with me?

10. Finally, when the latest series of the show comes to an end, you will message the BBC demanding the next series as soon as possible. There will be no reply, causing a binge-watch of epic proportions to help you get through the months until it comes back.

Film partners come in great waves. Thelma and Louise, Batman and Robin, Bonnie and Clyde and now a new partnership from the fantastic Emmy-winning Lena Waithe and visionary director Melina Matsoukas. The pair behind Makeready’s new drama feature, Queen & Slim.


When a black man (Daniel Kaluuya) and woman (Jodie Turner-Smith in her first film role) head out on their first date in Ohio, they are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. However, the situation is soon heightened when tragedy strikes, as the man kills the officer in self-defence. Fearing for their lives, the man and woman head off on the run.

Thinking they may have escaped from the events, the pair are soon faced with a viral video of the event, leading to them becoming a symbol of terror, pain and horror for people across the US. All of which, driving the pair to discover themselves and their relationship even further, as their circumstances become furthermore desperate and their love for each other grows.

Due out soon in cinemas, Queen & Slim is a powerful, love story about the effects of racism and violence that many tragically face in our world. You can see the first trailer for the feature below lovelies:

How are you all? I remember when I asked this every post and I thought it would be nice to bring it back! I probably will forget sometimes, but I always want to make sure that you are all well and hopefully making you happy with the blog!

Today has been a bit of a mumbled day for me, as I have been to the hospital, eating disorder clinic and back home again. Finally making it here, to share with you all these new teasers from lots of upcoming Amazon Prime Video shows. Including Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Carnival Row, Transparent, Undone, The Expanse, Modern Love, The Lord of the Rings, The Banker’s Wife as well as exclusive deals with Lena Waithe, Connie Britton and Significant Productions. All of which that were discussed at this weekend’s exciting Television Critics Association’s summer session.


To start with I have the first teaser for the second season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan for you:

As well as the first teaser trailer for Carnival Row, which will premiere on the 30th August. The show has already been commissioned for a second season, so I have big hopes for it:

The event also saw the first teaser trailer for upcoming romance/comedy series Modern Love, which will be out on the 18th October:

Prime Video announced that they will be releasing new animated series, Undone on the 13th September. It has also picked up a fifth season of The Expanse, ahead of the launch of season four on the 13th December. Whilst, Amazon Studios took to the stage to announce that they are planning a new adventure series, called The Banker’s Wife, based on the best-selling novel. They have also teamed up with Lena Waithe to create Amazon Original horror anthology series, THEM and created new deals with actress Connie Britton and Significant Productions and the company’s co-founders and producing partners, Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang Bongiovi for new TV series.

We have so much to look forward to lovelies! I can’t wait for the next series of Jack Ryan, because the first series hooked me in, and I ended up binging the whole lot in one weekend. What are you looking forward to lovelies?

After a long wait, Ashley Jensen is back as the amateur investigator Agatha Raisin. Fresh from Sky One, the second season, which is out on DVD and digitally as of today, follows the famous figure, as she tries to solve the strange murders in her little Cotswolds village. All of which bringing something strange and delightful to each episode.

Made up of six episodes, the new set of episodes, based on M.C. Beaton’s novels, capture Agatha as she settles into what she thinks is an early retirement. However, when more murders occur, she is drawn back into her old life, filled with many interesting figures including her ex-assistant Roy (Matthew Horne). All of which whilst also trying to solve where her fiancé James has gone after he went missing during their trip to Cyprus.

Unlike the serious nature of other detective shows, the world of Agatha Raisin is more laid back. It is a show to draw in comedy viewers to the world of crime and thrills. And with Jensen and her co-stars being so dynamic at doing this, there is no denying that it all works. Each episode rolls like the pages of the book. Each moment is fun to watch. It is simply a seriously special set of characters and clues that have been scripted to perfection.

Having had to wait so long for the new series, there is no doubt that if a third is to be made it needs to come sooner. Jensen is a quiet but perfect comedy star and her leading role in this series is her best role yet.

Having had a fantastic start to 2019 in Ricky Gervais’ After Life, she is having an even greater one with her turn in Agatha Raisin. If anything, she is the reason to watch this adaptation. Bring some summer fun to your thrill-seeking detective love with this series.

Aww, July! Heatwaves, politics and birthdays. That is what the month has brought into our home. Plus, much of the UK it would seem. With temperatures soaring, a new prime minister in office and my birthday seeing me staying home and turning 24, it has been a crazy time for all.

Whilst we would change some of it, the sun has brought a lot of happiness. Including these few favourites of mine, which helped to make July extra special…

My Birthday: July is always special to me because it is my birthday month. This year I didn’t go away due to health issues with my anorexia, but my mum and dad made sure that the whole day was special, and I really enjoyed having a quiet one. We are planning a bigger Disney trip to make up for it though!


The Lion King: I made it my mission to go to the cinema to see this film and on opening day, I was there. Since I went to Disneyland Paris for the first time, I have a weird emotional reaction whenever I hear the Circle of Life and it happened again when watching the film. After turning 24 a few days before, I felt like I was back in the 90s and I loved it. Plus, all the cast killed it!


Dunelm Christmas in July Show: After seeing a shout out for the event, I was kindly invited to attend the Dunelm Christmas show and I am now ready for the big day more than ever. I want to have Halloween, skip the rest of the year and snuggle up in a Dunelm filled home. Honestly, I didn’t realise how affordable the company is until I went and now, I have my eye on lots.


Mickey Mouse Spirit Jersey: Spirit Jersey’s are my guilty pleasure! I have three now and I am already looking at another one. They are pricey lovelies, but I can’t help it due to how cosy they are. After looking at the red Mickey Mouse one on the shopDisney UK website, I was super happy when my mum treated me to it for my birthday. I am actually wearing it right now whilst I create this post.


Lidl Cien Melon Body Wash: I am a bit of a bargain hunter, so I like to shop around when it comes to food and beauty. My mum and I picked up an XXL Cien Melon scented body wash from Lidl around mid-July and I am obsessed. If I could make it into a perfume, I would! It smells delicious! There is over a litre of it and I am considering going back and stocking up in case they take it away after summer.


Born Disney Mug: I saw this mug on Instagram and was sad, as I thought it was only available at Disney Parks. However, I was overjoyed when I went to the London Disney Store and found it on the shelves. My mum then sneakily brought it for my birthday. I haven’t had the heart to use it yet, but I think it may have to be cracked out soon.


I am sure there was more in July that should have made this list, but these were the real stand out points. Hopefully in the next few weeks, I will be able to go out a bit more, however, I am under a lot of medical care right now, so I need to be careful. Home snuggles in Disney Spirit Jersey’s it is!

Hey Lovelies, 

I love a board game. In fact, I love any kind of games. I believe it is the big kid in me. However, with people always coming and going in our house, we don’t get to play them as much as I would like. Most of the time, they are given a special place at Christmas. Yet, we changed this week.

About three years ago I was sent a game called Randomise by the brilliant Gamely team. Starting as a Kickstarter and family-based company, the team went on to appear on Dragons Den, where they turned down an offer from the team. Their passion was what has earned them their gaming top instead.


Bringing me to this post. Now onto their fourth gaming release, the team have come up with another gem that will make you laugh. Called Jibbergiggle, the aim is to take everyday scenarios and challenges, which you then act out but with only nonsense words and expressions. No hands or other body parts allowed.

When I got the game and after reading the instructions it instantly reminded me of the mouth game that has been ruling the world over the past couple of years. Yet, this is a lot harder. Coming up with words and knowing what to do with your face makes it a fabulous brain game, as well as a truly funny thing to play.

Simply pick two cards from each pile, one stating what you have to act out and the other with a set of words you have to say to describe that scenario. These included things like Crumpet Trumpet, FouBayBay and other words that sound like what you say to a baby or a dog when you can’t control yourself.


Bringing this out at a party will honestly make the night. After a dinner party, at a kid’s birthday party or even, dare I say it, Christmas, are all perfect times to enjoy it. I can already picture us on the big day with my nieces and nephews laughing over this, as we battle it out to win.

With just me, my mum and my dad having a go, it didn’t go on for long, but we had a lot of enjoyment out of it. At 24, 56 and 74, there was a wide range of ages and each of us got it instantly. Although, we didn’t all succeed at getting the scenarios straight away. Something that I think having a bigger group would make better.

I love the whole nature of Gamely as a company and the thought that goes into each one of their games. This is such a simple idea, yet when you play it, it becomes complex but still fun. I like that everyone in the family can get involved. There isn’t a lot of time that must be spent setting it up. Plus, the whole set can be taken with you and played whilst travelling, on holiday or at home.

We are planning to go away soon to Butlins on a family holiday and I am going to be taking this away with me for certain. I like all Gamely’s games in which I have reviewed for them, but for me, this is the winner so far. It is a fun mixture of brain training and comedy. Two things I enjoy in a game.

Matt Berry is a comedy star that many people recognise from the first sounds of his voice. Whether you have seen him in Toast of London or The IT Crowd, you simply know that it is him right away. Often portraying characters who are very out there, his latest role in Year of the Rabbit, out today on DVD, Blu-Ray and Digitally, will again have you laughing at the over the top silly gags he is so well known for.

Set in the Victorian era, Berry stars alongside Freddie Fox and Susan Wokoma, as Detective Inspector Rabbit. A cop who spends his days drinking and testing the patience of those around him, including his new rookie sidekick (Fox) and his Chief Inspectors daughter (Wokoma), who is forced to shadow the pair on their outings.

What has been described by many as a comedy, begins with a tough scene of someone getting endless beaten up by Rabbit. Yet, the show soon finds its comedy feet and with brilliant portrayals from Berry and newcomer Wokoma, it sets off on a path to become Channel 4’s new underdog comedy.

Playing out a bit like Ripper Street mixed with classic The Sweeney and a hint of Porridge, the show needs someone like Berry to lead it. Writers Kevin Cecil and Andy Riley haven’t made an easy plot, so by fixing Berry into the role makes it easier for all audiences to follow. They have given us someone we love and feel familiar with to help lead the way. A bit like an adult Horrible Histories shall we say.

It is fair to say though that the show won’t be for everyone. There is a lot of swearing. There are a lot of moments that are not completely historically accurate and there is a very big silly presence surrounding the whole thing. Yet, in a world that is full of too much drama and politics, it is nice to have something that finally doesn’t take itself too seriously, with a bunch of great comedy actors. If 2019 is the Year of the Rabbit, let it be.

Whether it is going back in time with Victoria or bringing us the biggest period dramas in Downton Abbey, ITV has presented us with many romances from far off places for years. Joining them in 2019 is Beecham House, out today on DVD, fresh from director Gurinder Chadha, who gave us Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice to name a few.

Taking the lead, Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair), plays John Beecham, a man of many mysteries. Leaving behind his role in the East India Company to make a new life for himself in Delhi. Yet, with the presence of his widowed mother, a fresh love interest and a princess seeking refuge in his home, his desire for a quiet life is in tatters. Plus, with his past chasing him, he finds that his secrets may soon be spilled for all to see, leaving him with endless worries.

Beating Poldark to take up the new Sunday night slot, the show plays out much like the first few series of the BBC drama did. There is a mystery to the smoldering figure. Yet, it doesn’t grip you in the same way. Sure, there are twists and turns, such as the appearance of a young daughter in the first episode, however, Bateman fails to charm us in in the same way.

Chadha is a director that we can all trust to bring us joy and this new series does just that as it continues. Audiences can be reassured that she knows what to do to represent India and the cast she has chosen well. In just six episodes, you will desire much of the world in which the characters live in. Maybe not their personal stories though.

Plus, with a mixture of genres on hand and a whole host of fabulous tales that they have, there is no lack of drama either and you will find this most enjoyable as a viewer. Especially if it is to return for a second season. However, as mentioned before it doesn’t all work well.

There is a lot of cheese to be had as well and it can become a little unbelievable at times. Throughout much of the story, you do feel like it has been done before and the need for something new isn’t always met. Bateman and Chadha have tried their best, but it doesn’t play out well and that is a sad loss.

If you are seeking a show to feel those Sunday night binges than this is probably the one for you. However, it may be best to wait for your old favourites just a little bit longer. Fans of Chadha won’t be disappointed, but her films are a lot better it must be said.

With recent performances in Girls, Shrill and Mozart In The Jungle, John Cameron Mitchell is still making sure audiences see all the sides of his fabulous acting. However, it is one role that still stands out amongst the rest. In Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which has been re-released today on Blu-Ray, the star gives us everything.

Directing, writing and starring within the feature, the 2001 hit is still as relevant today as it was back then. Taken from stage to screen, the original off-Broadway (now on Broadway) show follows Hedwig, a transsexual East German star, who is on tour in America’s Midwest. As she plays to the locals, she tells her story. From a botched operation to the men she has dated, Hedwig is a fiery figure, who demands never-ending songs and encores from not only the crowd but us as an audience.

As the film continues, the songs get stuck in your head and they become a rhythm of not only the story being told but that of a modern real-life moment. You can feed the beats into tunes you recognise and by the end of the viewing, you will be seeking to tell your own story in the same way that Hedwig does.

There are moments where it does drift off, with animated scenes portrayed in ways that many wouldn’t expect. But it shows the passion in how Cameron Mitchell wants to tell the tale of Hedwig and the ways she will be remembered. Hedwig may be a star on-screen, but it is her fabulous power to stay so relevant off-screen too that makes this re-release a real winner.

Right now, Comic-Con is taking place and whilst I am spending the day's dreaming of being there, it is making sure that the days are also filled with lots of new film thrills. Including these new trailers from Top Gun Maverick, Cats and It Chapter Two!

It is up to you lovelies to decide which one you watch. To try and help, I have gathered them here, in no particular order, so that you can’t miss them. I will warn you all though that the Cats one is a little creepy. And I mean giving Pennywise a run for his money creepy aha!

Long-time no speak! Okay, so maybe not that long but my oh my has today been a little bit mad! I have been to the hospital, pharmacist, home and then to ASDA, where I went a little wild in the aisle. Sometimes, it is all a little bit crazy and I just want to escape.

Then I bring myself back down to earth and see that actually I really like my home. With all the comforts it brings. Something that I think comes from watching so many horrific sci-fi films aha! Not bad ones, but ones that scare me with how many awful things can happen in space. Gravity, Interstellar, Alien, you get the picture. And now there is a new one joining them to terrify me.


Starring Brad Pitt as astronaut Roy McBride, alongside Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland, Ad Astra follows Pitt’s character as he travels to the outer edges of the solar system in hopes to find the father he lost. Whilst also seeking to stop the threats placed on Earth. All of which leads to a whole host of secrets being uncovered.

Directed by James Gray, the film is due out on the 18th September lovelies and the first trailer for it can be seen below:

Now be honest with me, did you imagine that you would be coming on to the blog to find John Cena as a fireman? Come on admit it didn’t seem very likely. However, we are finding just that, as the first trailer for his new film Playing With Fire has just dropped.


Starring Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Brianna Hildebrand, Dennis Haybert, Judy Greer and directed by Andy Fickman, there is sure to be mayhem and madness within it. When straight-laced fire superintendent, Jake Carson (Cena), and his team of fellow firefighters discover and rescue three siblings during a wildfire, they soon take on their biggest task yet. Becoming babysitters to them, after being unable to find their parents. Soon their depot is turned into chaos, as they learn just how unpredictable children can be.

Not a day goes by when I don’t think about Eggsy and the Kingsman. Seriously, I am in love with the group and it can take one thing for me to think about the films. A suit. A spy drama. Something involving whisky. Anything and I am thinking about the wonderful world in which Matthew Vaughn created.


There so, when I received an exciting email from the team at 20th Century Fox a few moments ago about The King’s Man, the latest film in the franchise, I was a little bit excited by it. Starring Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance, the newest outing for the team is probably going to be the most adventurous yet.

Telling the story about history’s worst villains and criminal masterminds, as they try to plot a war to kill millions, the film sees one man try to stop them all. By starting an independent intelligence agency known as The King’s Man.

Good Afternoon Lovelies,

The wonderful team at Prestige Hampers kindly sent me another treat this weekend, making me feel super spoilt on my birthday, the team gave me the Delicious Delights hamper to try. A delight it certainly was, when I opened the box to find the gold and black packaging, housing a whole host of goodies.

Filled with delightful chocolate and orange treats, the hamper, which was once created for Father’s Day, is perfect for all occasions. Whether you are buying a birthday present for the ultimate chocolate lover you know or selecting something for a couple as a gift, there is a big mixture inside the hamper for all to pick from. In fact, I think the whole family, like mine, could get stuck in with it.


Upon opening, I was greeted by three small jars by Wilkin & Sons LTD, which ended up being a chocolate, banoffee and salted caramel trio of spreads. Next to them was some orange and chocolate wafers made by Whitakers Chocolates that came in a super bright box. After my family had stopped oooing at the first picks from the hamper, we dug through the worms and found a selection of delights that we all agreed would be great for a morning treat.

Below the brown paper was Joe & Seph’s lovely Trio of Chocolate Gourmet Popcorn, which came in milk, white and cookies and cream flavour. The Edinburgh Tea & Coffee Company LTD Swiss Chocolate Coffee, which my dad is going to attempt to make and try (wish us luck!), some English Tea Shop Fairtrade & Organic English Breakfast Tea and finally Reids Scottish Shortbread in Chocolate Chunk and Orange flavour.


To me the hamper is a great addition to an after-dinner celebration or as a treat first thing on a special morning. We had the hamper yesterday, as a little birthday feast as a family and everyone had something out of it. My mum and I enjoyed the tea bags and we also loved the little pot additions to our breakfasts. These pots we also thought would be great as something to put out on the table at dessert time, especially if you were having pancakes or something like ice cream.

What I liked most about this hamper was though was the way in which it felt so special upon opening. As someone who struggles with food, it was nice to just get excited by the care and attention that Prestige Hampers had put into the package and I liked getting to see the small jars before the big treats. Plus, as a film lover, it was great to see the Joe & Seph’s Popcorn amongst the gifts. Something you probably wouldn’t expect to find amongst the other treats, but I was very happy to see.


As someone who is continuously finding out more about Prestige Hampers, every gift I have been lucky to receive from them has been fabulous for all of us in our home. We have tried Christmas, fresh and now a celebration based one. Each one leaving us more and more happy with the fast, caring and perfect service from the team. Many of us will know about the horrors of the Chernobyl disaster that happened in 1986. Many of us will know how gripping the new Sky drama based on it is. Many of us who haven’t seen it really need to! Out on DVD, Blu-Ray and digitally today, the five-episode mini-series created and written by Craig Mazin and directed by Johan Renck, starring Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård and Emily Watson, has become critically acclaimed and it is rightly deserved.

On the 26th April, the 1980s saw a disaster that should never have happened when the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukrainian SSR exploded. Releasing deadly radioactive matter all over Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine, as well as across Europe, the world was changed forever. Yet, still, much of what happened and how the incident occurred has been kept hidden. In the new series, the true story is brought to light, as those who thought to save those around them and the sad millions who suffered from it share their stories, which have been used to make up the show. 

Having been named by many as being unmissable, it is easy to see why. From the quiet moments that make up the first few moments of the series, there is an undeniable sense of horror and intrigue. Each element caught on camera has been placed there to show audiences something. Every piece of the script has been thought about in a delicate way that lends to the story and the way in which those affected told their own tales.

When watching, you can’t help but be affected. Even up until the last episode, which goes back 12 hours before the disaster to show the beauty of the country so badly affected by the disaster. The families. The workers. The people who were going about their day in blissful quietness. Witnessing how the disaster might have been stopped is something that will frustrate and bring sadness to many. Two feelings that will be felt throughout.

It is a show that will cause controversy, yet it is instantly a classic. A cult watch that will keep audiences watching. Whether they knew about the horror or not, they will want to find out what happened. They will want to know the part people played and these stories that have made up this show will tell it well for years to come.

As many of us seek real-life dramas now, this is topping them all. Never has a show brought so much disaster and horror in such a powerful manner. Chernobyl has made it very hard for any other real-life trauma to be made into a TV show and when award season comes around again, it is certain to win several. If you haven’t watched it yet, you must!

I am very fortunate when it comes to blogging and life to receive such amazing gifts and items from lovely companies. I am honestly always thankful for them and will always cherish those who help the blog in any way with a lot of love.

This morning I was woken up by a delivery man, with a very exciting parcel. A bit of a fruity one if I do say so myself. Fresh from Prestige Hampers, the company had sent me a gorgeous hamper full of oranges, apples and grapes, as well as some extra special fruit inspired treats to enjoy. Perfect for my birthday in every way.


Part of their fresh hampers range, this selection is known as the Farmer’s Fruit Crate and within it, the company has paired a Thatcher’s Apple Cider, with 4 apples, 4 satsumas, 500g grapes, Emily’s Apple Fruit Crisps, Honeyrose Craft Bakery Hazelnut and Aden Plum Toast and two Ford Farm cheeses. All in a lovely wicker tray hamper. Something that I could imagine would make any picnic, summer event or even an anniversary pop if laid out on a table.

When I opened the parcel in which it came in, I already knew in my head who would enjoy what. It is a gift that the whole family can get stuck in with and I know that mine will. In our house, I will be taking the apples, whilst my mum has already got her eyes on the cheeses and my dad has his on the grapes. However, I am going to tease them all with the contents for a little bit first aha!


Fruit is a huge part of our home and we always have a fruit bowl full of fresh produce. I often wish for a local farmers market on the village I live on, because I wish I could get local, homegrown items sometimes.

With this hamper, it really feels like I have this and the fact that it came so quick and early means I don’t have to worry about the food going off before I have had time to review it. Plus, with Prestige Hampers and Flowers, I have always had really good service and the flowers have lasted. Recently I had a bouquet from them that was in our front room for nearly three weeks.


I am definitely treating this hamper as an early birthday gift. I know that might sound a little cheeky, but I have never received something like this, and it is so nice. I love fruit and don’t find it scary to eat, so to be able to enjoy a food gift is a really nice feeling and I feel like the team has taken a lot of care and attention over the hamper. I’m also coming up with lots of ways to reuse the hamper and I think I am now going to store my apples in it in the future or use it to recreate a hamper for someone else.

This week has been all about birthdays and the madness of this Sunday, as I prepare to turn 24. However, yesterday I decided to head into the festive season in the middle of July. Many of you will know that I love Christmas. Everything about it including every sparkle and charm. It is the only time I will allow for glitter in my home in fact.

At the start of the week, I was invited by Dunelm, the home experts to attend their Christmas press show and to say I was excited would have been an understatement. After gathering my mum, the pair of us headed into the heart of London to gather all the interior tips and inspiration we would need for Christmas 2019. And I got a lot!


With five different rooms to walk through, the Dunelm festive collection for this year started with a beautiful drinks and cakes selection, which included mini panettones. Something that warmed my Italian heart hugely. Drinks in hand, we were then given a lovely tour around the room, walking first into the dining room inspired set up.

Christmas carol music sheets, tiny gold mice and beautiful cutlery and crockery adorned the velvet table, featuring gorgeous tree-lined foliage and twinkle lights. It was honestly the dining table of dreams that would look good in any home. Big or small. Surrounded by trees decorated with glittering lights and baubles, as well as the addition of fake snow, the room led us into the main show area.


Here was where the five rooms and their designs were featured. Starting with the gift area, Dunelm has gathered everything you would need to make sure that your loved ones get the gift that suits them. From gingerbread and Santa inspired baking tools and tins to Brussels sprouts puzzles, stockings and sacks will feature some of the items in them that I saw this year in our house. I even told my mum that I want the sprouts puzzle.

There was also a shelf dedicated to the brilliant recyclable crackers that Dunelm has made this year to be more sustainable, which I adored as they were filled with origami animals to make at the table. A brilliant idea from the norm.


Next, we were taken into the living room area. Here is where I feel for a gorgeous festive pouffe, which I am going to invest in for my bedroom I think lovelies. Given the theme of Highland Luxe by the Dunelm team, the room had velvet chairs, stag tealight holders, Nordic designs and glittering decorations and golden tables and trees galore. Amongst lots of tartan features. Everything that would give a new feel to the most fashionable season of the year.

From here, we headed into the Dreamscape designed bedroom, which was made for living like royalty. This year’s Snow Animal designed bedding was covered in fluffy pillows, fur throws and carpets and grey wardrobes and drawers, which worked so well with the added addition of snowy nutcrackers and draped sheets. Imagine those cosy winter cabin pictures of people snuggled up in thick socks and jumpers with a hot chocolate in bed and this is what Dunelm have made for 2019. My idea of perfection in real life.


A theme that I also found in the children’s bedroom designs, as Dunelm have made sure that cosy and fun blend for a festive season to end all festive seasons. The dinosaur bedding is something that if I could have got away with stealing on the day I would have done so. Covered in cuddly toys, wooden sustainable toys and pink unicorns, the children’s rooms were designed to last from November up until January, with the bright colours bringing so much joy. I am still wondering how long it is going to be until the dinosaur duvet is in stores because I want it badly.


After the first dining room, the next room was going to have to make a huge impact and for me it did. The dining room setting amongst the five was one that reflected our true Christmas dinner set up. Funny napkins in festive shapes, bowls and mugs with Christmas creatures on them and crackers galore. This is what we live for in our house and my mum is still talking about getting the bowl and mug sets for herself, my dad and me to have on Christmas morning or as a way to bring in dessert and an after-dinner drink on the big day. I have warned her we are five months away, but she is now certain on these sets and at £5 they are super affordable too.


The final room we were shown was the bathroom. With all the features fit made for the ultimate comfort, the room included a bathtub tray that can hold that cheeky glass of prosecco and Christmas snacks on it. A super affordable Santa and Rudolph bathmat, which at £7, I know will also be making an appearance in our home. Finally, a penguin and reindeer duck that will be £2 each and an investment I will be making for our home.


Given free reign from here to continue to look around, enjoy the canapes and to make a festive wish list to post off to the Dunelm Santa, we also sat down and took part in a creative season with a great team, before heading off into the London sun. Five months away from Christmas we may be, but already I want it. In fact, can we just skip everything up until November now? I want to decorate my house in many ways Dunelm did and if I have to hear how long will it be until my mum can buy that mug and bowl set one more time, I may have to take serious action aha!
