Norm of the North: Keys to the Kingdom DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Give me a cute CGI or animated animal and I am your lady! Honestly, for years I have fallen under the spell of the weird and wonderful creatures that have taken over our screens. Sebastian, Bing Bong, Groot, just a few who have touched my heart. However, whilst he is super cute, Norm of the North doesn’t feel like one of those figures.

Returning in the sequel to Norm of the North, Keys to the Kingdom, Norm's new reigning power as king sets off this tale. Travelling to New York to get the keys to the city, along with his son, Norm soon finds out that not all is well when he is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. On a chase to find out who really did it, Norm must rely on those around him for help to make it as the leader of the North Pole.

Norm is a sweet animated character that young children will love and it is in no way the worst animated feature made, but the story fails to flow in the way a film should. Breaking down each scene, the motions and tale feel more suitable for a TV series than a feature-length piece. By doing this, the film would have also had more time to care for little details, such as matching the voices to the movements of the characters mouths on screen. Something that sadly became annoying very quickly.

Adults watching this sequel may not be able to stand it for long due to this, but it is a great film to get young audience members interested in cinematic adventures. A piece to put on over a weekend morning or a lazy evening. I have decided due to all of this, I am giving it…
