Vigil DVD Review

06:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Vincent Ward made his debut with the incredible Vigil. It was the film that launched his career and made him a world-renowned star in the eyes of upcoming filmmakers. Now, for the first time ever, the film is being released on Blu-ray for all to enjoy.

Following a stranger in New Zealand, as he moves to a farm which just so happens to be the scene of an unexpected mystery death, the show captures him becoming close to the dead man’s relatives. Ending up lovers with the man’s wife, the film shows how the family comes to terms with the death and demons that lie within the house threatening them all.

Dark and very hard to watch at times, the film is one of the most striking pieces for the way it captures its cast. All unknown figures at the time, the way in which they embody the New Zealand landscape and beauty to show heartache and death is very clever filmmaking. Creativity at its best should I say.

Ward has made sure that by creating a story that mixes all emotions, blending a perfect cast into it and making the whole thing stand out, he will never be forgotten. And his film will never fail to win audiences over.

There so, I am giving it…

4 ½ Stars
