The Work DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

For many, the name Folsom State Prison will remind you of two things. One, being the obvious a prison and the second being the place that Johnny Cash visited and featured in a song, however not many people will think of the people inside the prison.

In some of the most incredible scenes, this documentary film takes viewers inside one meeting-taking place between the prisoners. Discussing their crimes, the rehabilitation they have gone through and the ways that they have felt since entering the prison, the documentary shows a group of men, who many will have ideas about in a totally different way.

From one man breaking down in full-blown tears to the deep discussions the men have, the capturing of such an intimate meeting, which only takes twice a year, is hard hitting throughout. Your emotions are never quite sure how to feel, as you start to feel sorry for some of the inmates, even though you know that they are there for a reason.

Jairus McLeary and Gethin Aldous have made a film that makes you wait up until the end to find out the big climatic moments that they men are facing, going through or our leading us into. All of which making for some intense and dramatic revelations, turning your views of the prison, so famous for entertainment purposes, again.

The documentary is definitely a must-watch for anyone interested in the reform system or documentaries. It is also a great feature to start your documentary obsession.

There so I am giving it…

4 Stars
