Animal Factory DVD Review

08:00:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Based on the semi-autobiographical book by Eddie Baker, Animal Factory is a dark look at the prison system through a young persons life.

Featuring Danny Trejo and Mickey Rourke, this Steve Buscemi directed feature follows Ron Decker, a young man who is sentenced to 10 years in prison. Along the way he sees just how harsh life inside is and how much it affects the people around him.

With films such as Starred Up being box office smash’s, prison stories have become grittier and more intense in recent years. Sadly Animal Factory fails to drop the Hollywood cloud that follows it, causing a dark tunnel to be placed in front of its audience.

There are very similar themes to features already out and Trejo and Rourke just don’t seem to fit the story. While both try there best, the script writing has let them down by trying to be to clever but not effective.

It would have been better if the creators had just been as authentic and honest as prison life is, instead of making it appear glamorous still.

This is why I am giving it...
