Willard and Ben DVD Review's

Good Morning Lovelies,

Just in time for Halloween, Second Sight have given a pair of cult classics the Blu-ray treatment, as they present Willard and Ben to the format for the first time ever in a restored feature boxset!

Willard is a story about a misfit, whose life isn’t as exciting as he had hoped. His family fail to look after him the way that they should, leaving him seeking revenge on their nasty behaviour. The film, which is based on the book Ratman’s Notebooks, is director Daniel Mann’s masterpiece. Mixed with a coming of age presence, the story is gripping and thrilling all at the same time. A horror classic for the ages.

In Ben, a similar thing occurs. However, Ben has a certain aspect to it that makes it even more entertaining to watch. With a killer soundtrack, in the form of Michael Jackson’s ‘Ben’, there is no escaping the character's fragility in a dark world. Lonely and with no one to turn to, ill Danny, a young boy, finds a friend in rat Ben. A rat who protects him from the bullies he faces every day.

Ben is a completely different feature from Willard, but they both capture the idea of teenagers and young children growing up in a horrible world. It is ironic that with so much negativity in our world at the moment that these classics have been brought out again to give us entertainment. It is irony though that is needed.

These classic horrors are both something to sink your teeth into when you are looking for an original horror piece. Therefore, I am giving them both…
