Upon its original release, The Legend of the Holy Drinker, proudly took home the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival! Since then, it has become a cult classic, making its release on Blu-ray today even more special for many.

Directed by Ermanno Olmi, the film is an adaptation of the Joseph Roth novella, which tells the story of Andreas, a homeless man in Paris. After being handed 200 francs by a stranger, Andreas decides to better his life and pay back the kind person. However, his demons often get the better of him.

The film captures the beauty and dark side of life, with depth, comedy and plenty of emotions thrown into the story with it. There hasn't been a single element that Olmi didn't think of when making the film and every thought you may have had about the character and the situation he is in gets discussed. It gets explained and it gets the care that great filmmakers make sure to take.
