Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to review the second film in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s franchise, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out Of The Shadows, and so with a family full of turtle mega fans (my nephew is named after one) I just had to.

Following Raphael, Donatello, Michelangelo and Leonardo, the film sees them taking on their supervillain nemesis Shredder again, who has been joined by two henchmen known as Bebop and Rocksteady.

From the start, it is easy to see that the budget has grown on this film. And with that, it is a bit more enjoyable than the one that came before it. However, it lacks the charm of the original series and it feels very much at times like a why do we need this piece.

With Megan Fox and Stephen Amell returning to the big screen alongside the four TMNT characters, they do make it a little bit less silly but when watching it you can’t help but things are a little bit too over the top. I am not sure if this is because of the 3D element the home entertainment side is lacking but it seems like every five minutes there is a fight, jumping and lots and lots of running without a cause.

I do have to say though that the film isn’t the worst animation/human film I have ever seen. There are some classic TMNT moments and as I said there is a ton of elements that make it a lot better than the first film. You can actually sit willingly through this one. And you definitely don’t have to have seen the first one get this.

Overall with the October school holidays having arrived the film is a perfect thing to sit down and enjoy with the young ones. Share with them what you use to watch when you were little. But do explain to them over a pizza that the cartoons were better.

There so I am giving the film…

3 Stars
