Let's Start With This One...

Good Afternoon Lovelies, 

Halloween is here and so it is a necessary thing to watch a horror film tonight! Whether it be a scary comedy or an all-out gore fest, tonight is the night that all cinematic sweetness is thrown out and the thrills are brought home.

To help you pick a film to watch, I wanted to share the films that I think are the best to watch tonight if you want to be incredibly scared. So grab a cushion, pop that popcorn and be prepared to be horrified with these Halloween favourites.

Scream: I love this horror film so much that I did it for both of my film studies coursework and exams. Thank you for that A Wes Craven and for recreating the horror genre.


A Nightmare on Elm Street: Whether it is the classic or the remake, both films will make you stay awake all night in fear.


Halloween: This classic film is one that still manages to scare me, especially the sheet over the head scene. If you haven’t seen it, tonight is the perfect time to discover what I mean. Plus, with a brand new film in cinemas now, there is no reason to miss it! (FYI: The ladies kick ass in the latest feature)


Insidious: I still remember the feeling of my stomach dropping to the floor from the scares in this film and I am still not prepared for it every time I watch it. This is a feature that reinvented the recent horror films.


Carrie: Stephen King brings the scare factor to everything he does and Carrie manages to show humanity in the horror genre. The old version is the best one lovelies.


IT: Pennywise is terrifying in both the old and new film, so it is up to you to choose which one to watch. That is if you can handle IT because Pennywise nearly makes me run away every time aha!


The Shining: Another Stephen King hit, this film will have you shouting along with it, as it captures some of the most memorable horror film quotes.


Get Out: If you have never seen Get Out, then you need to Get Out of my house! This thriller will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about horror films. And well life in general! 



Shaun of the Dead: If you are not a fan of horror films but want to watch something spooky, this is the one for you. You will be laughing your fears away.

This morning, the British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) announced this year’s nominations. Ruled by The Favourite, the award show, will be hosted on the 2nd December and it looks like it is going to be a very tough event.

Next week, the hit summer feature Tag will be coming out on DVD, just in time for those Bonfire night celebrations at home! To mark the release, I was kindly sent a feature looking at some of the best ‘bro’ comedy films of all time and I wanted to share it with you lovelies. It is up to you which one you watch first!

Everyone loves a chick-flick, but it seems a group of guy mates make some of the funniest movies! To celebrate the release of the hilarious Tag, available on digital download now and DVD November 5, we’re taking a look at some of the best ‘bro’ comedy films, from The Hangover to Superbad…

Superbad (2007)
Superbad is a hilarious coming-of-age teen story starring Jonah Hill and Michael Cera, two best friends at the end of their high-school years. When the boys are invited to a senior house party, they want to make sure they are remembered, so together with their nerdy friend (McLovin), they spend a long day trying to score enough alcohol to supply the party. The trio hope they will meet some girls in order to kick-start their sex lives before they go off to college, but it doesn’t all go to plan…

Step Brothers (2008)
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly star as lazy, unemployed Brennan and Dale, two 30-year-old men who still live at home with their parents, which should, in turn, lead to having a lot in common. However, when Brennan's mother and Dale's father marry and move in together, it turns the man-boys' world upside down. Their crazy rivalry and narcissism pull the new family apart, forcing them to work together to reunite their parents.


The Hangover (2009)
The Hangover is the first instalment in the hilarious Hangover trilogy. It tells the story of Doug (Justin Bartha) who travels to Las Vegas for a wild and memorable stag party two days before his wedding, along with his three friends (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis). What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, as they wake up with no recollection of the previous night. With the groom nowhere to be found Phil, Stu, and Alan must find him before the wedding can take place.

Central Intelligence (2016)
Central Intelligence stars Kevin Hart and Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson as two old high school friends who happen to bump into each other. Bob Stone (The Rock) is almost unrecognisable as he has transformed from being overweight to fit and muscular, and is also working for the CIA. Calvin (Kevin Hart) who was a hot-shot in high school now misses his glory days and happens to find himself caught up with Bob. Together, the former classmates encounter shootouts, espionage and double-crosses while trying to prevent worldwide chaos.

21 Jump Street (2012)
21 Jump Street is actually an adaptation of the 1987–91 television series of the same name by Stephen J. Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh, the film follows trainee police officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) who join the secret Jump Street unit, to prevent the outbreak of a new synthetic drug and arrest its supplier. Schmidt and Jenko soon discover that high school is nothing like it once was and they are forced to confront the teenage terror and anxiety they thought they had left behind.


Get Hard (2015)
When rich hedge-fund manager James (Will Ferrell) is convicted of fraud and sentenced to a stretch in San Quentin state prison, the judge gives him one month to get his affairs in order. Knowing that he won't last very long in prison on his own, James desperately turns to Darnell (Kevin Hart) a black businessman for help, who he assumes has been to prison before but really has never even had a parking ticket. As Darnell puts James through the works, they both learn that they were wrong about many things, including each other.

Tag (2018)
For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!” This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready. Based on a true story, this outrageous comedy shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

Halloween may be here, but it is also time to start spreading Christmas cheer with the cast of Nativity Rocks lovelies. Plus, a whole host more including some very spooky and spellbinding content.

Let’s start on a festive note lovelies…

Good Morning Lovelies, 

It’s not often that a film’s sequel pays off. When the first feature is such a hit, it is a scary process for cast and viewers to bring back the characters that many have fallen for. Yet, Sicario 2: Soldado brings back the characters, minus Emily Blunt, in another gripping showdown that will leave you on the edge of your seat.

Returning to lead the way, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro portray Graver (Brolin) and Gillick (Del Toro) again. The two CIA agents are back and this time they are working to save Mexico from the dark drug filled world that has taken over and the breakdown of a drug lord’s relationship with his child when she is taken away from him.

Graver and Gillick fight to reunite them leads this film, in a timely manner with the scary and real elements that are taking place in America right now. A clever creation from screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and director Stefano Sollima, as the pair use the terror of reality to play on the emotions of the audience when working on modern fear.

Emotions that are thrown all over the place, with a chilling bomb scene that will leave you feeling unsteady even when sitting in your seat, to the jokes and male bonding that the two leads go through. These characters and their stories have been built to stay with you and they do just that.

However, the film does slide with some of its narrative. With the news continuously highlighting cases similar to that in which they are tackling, there are moments were the realness slides and it seems as though the creators have failed to pick up on the sensibilities of the time. There is also a lot left to be said for the ending of the film, which lets down what the characters story had built.

However, with all this said, the clever mix of realism, personal stories and the hard hitting tropes in which the film follows make for a sequel that actually does the first film justice and with a great cast to go with it.

There so, I am giving the film…

When you were at school, what were you like? Were you the kid who couldn’t wait to leave at the end of the day? Or someone who loved every minute and couldn’t wait to take part in the extra tasks on offer?

In Wes Anderson’s classic, Rushmore, which is being re-released today on Blu-Ray, Jason Schwartzman - a then newcomer - plays Max. An eager figure, who thrives in the extra-curricular activities that take place within his school. Yet, his school work doesn’t seem to match up. There so, when his teacher, who has a crush on offers to help him, he can’t help but say yes. Even though she has a boyfriend played by Bill Murray.

Made in 1998, this classic is one of the founding fathers of Anderson’s collection and a sure-fire way of highlighting why he always returns to Schwartzman. Using a script made alongside Owen Wilson, every moment oozes that classic Anderson look that has made him so well known today.

From up close and centre sequences reflecting the area and characters to the sharp and clever words that pore from their mouths, it is hard to not fall under its spell.

Using influences from previous films such as Ferris Bueller and The Breakfast Club, Schwartzman delivers a rebellious figure who you can’t help but love. Although there is much about him that if he was real would probably annoy you. It is the work of one-liners and classic eye contact movements that make him not so hard to view.

The film is a cult classic that will continue to stem a fandom for years to come, as they get to grips with the world of Max and his friends. Relationships, school and even Anderson features may come and go, but Rushmore is lodging itself as a fan favourite quite nicely. Even 20 years later!

It may only be the end of October, but Christmas is about to burst out all over the place in a massive way. And if you know me, then you know that I am pumped for it. I am ready to embrace the songs, the films and all of the decorations this festive season. Whether it be a cult classic or new features, such as this festive animation.

Featuring the voices of Hunger Games Josh Hutcherson, Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin, Jeff Dunham, John Cleese and man more, this winter treat follows a young reindeer called Elliot (Hutcherson) and his friend Hazel. As they set out to prove to Santa that he is the best man to take over from Blitzen, who has announced his retirement, they fact an evil lady who appears on the ranch in which they live and so they must fight to keep their friends save.

Lasting only an hour, this is a sweet treat for the whole family to curl up with on the sofa. The storyline is safe for all and the recognisable voices make it appealing for all ages to enjoy. It is a feature that returns you to the safety of childhood. And if Christmas isn’t all about the amazing feelings you have that convert you back into a big kid than I don’t know what it is about.

The film sadly hasn’t been shown in cinemas or made into a big home release campaign, but that makes it a little bit more appealing. It is a secret film that brings the magic of Christmas back to life.

As they say, it is the little things in life that really count. There so, I am giving the film…

If you mention the artist Andrea Bocelli, many people will say that he is a legend of classical music. There so, when a film was announced of his life story, many were excited to see what the team behind it were going to do. Sadly, it didn’t work quite right.

Going back to when Bocelli was first starting his career, the film stars Toby Sebastian, Luisa Ranieri, Jordi Mollà, Ennio Fantastichini and Antonio Banderas in a feature filled with plot holes and bad filmmaking mistakes. As it explores the harsh world that Bocelli faced to get to where he is, the film takes a long time to provide audiences with that need to watch on.

Starting with the way in which Bocelli loses his confidence to sing due to a mishap at a family wedding, the film takes over an hour to really get going again, when he meets his mentor. From there it doesn’t ever really pick up to the level in which you hope that turning point might make it. Even when he sings, the spark that should ignite doesn’t.

Taking the story of a figure who is so well know is always hard but this one doesn’t seem to ever get over this. There are moments were things do work and you think that the story will now pick up, but it again falls on a flat note.

There is no real sense of knowing what the films purpose is. Who was it made for? What did they think their audiences would learn? And did Bocelli actually give permission for the film, as it seems like it wasn’t actually given a lot of communication with the singer.

Sadly, this has all led to the film earning this…

Heading into my local supermarket recently made me really realise that Christmas is coming! Aisle and aisles of food and gifts had taken over what once was a place for back to school items and BBQs. And I love it!

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and I adore seeing all the festive pieces out on display. Nothing makes me happier than a turkey and tinsel. So, when I was kindly contacted by the Cadbury’s Gifts Direct team about their amazing selection, I couldn’t wait to get see what they had created for the festive season this year.

Working not only with Cadbury’s items, the team also feature pieces by Green & Blacks, Maynards Bassetts and Oreo within their selection. Meaning there is really something for every chocolate lover in your home. Sending me a selection of gifts, I was greeted to a huge box when I walked through my door on Wednesday night two weeks ago. Full to the brim of some of the best presents I have ever been given. After removing the tape, safety packaging and the polystyrene Wotsits, I was greeted to a whole host of goodness pieces that left me unsure of where to begin.

Grabbing the advent calendar first, the Green & Blacks advent countdown delight is filled with pralines, milk, salted and dark filled treats that makes this more of an adult-friendly item. Bigger than the average advent calendar you may find, the calendar is retailing at £10 in many shops and online and whilst it may seem pricey, the size of the treats judging from the box definitely makes it worth it. Plus, the chocolate has been handcrafted to make Christmas even more fun.

Now if my best friend Issy is reading this, then I know she is about to get very excited! In fact, I know a few people who won’t be prepared for the news I am about to share with them. Fresh from DreamWorks Animation comes the finale of one of the most popular animated franchises in film history, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.


Since it all began with an odd friendship between a young Viking and a Night Fury dragon, the pair's story has spanned a trilogy, TV show and now their final adventure to discover their true destinies in life, as the village chief of Berk alongside Astrid, and the dragon as leader of his own kind.  Yet, their friendship must face one final test, along with the appearance of a female Night Fury, to take on a dark threat that could destroy all they have built.

Back to direct again, Dean DeBlois returns along with producers, Brad Lewis and Bonnie Arnold, to give us our first sneak peek at the film, due out on the 1st February 2019. Take a look at it below lovelies:

A few months ago, I fell head over heels in love with the Amazon Prime series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Full of humour, heart and so much female power from the show's leads, it is a pure mix of perfection.


Finally, after months of speculation as to when it would be back, Amazon UK has announced that the second series of the show will return on the 5th December. An early Christmas present if you will.

After Midge’s triumph at the Gaslight, the fallout from her takedown of Sophie Lennon looms large, making her climb up the comedy ladder more challenging than ever. As the actual grind of being a comic begins to take its toll on Midge, the pressure to come clean to her family weighs on her – especially as her choices have a ripple effect on everyone around her.
