Good Morning Lovelies,

When Glee came out many years ago, I was a teenager singing in a choir hoping that maybe one day we could do the same thing. Many people did and even when I left I enjoyed seeing a group of people coming together and raising their voices. However, as I got older I lost my love for Glee a little bit and ended up falling under the spell of Nashville at times, especially when I won the first four seasons on DVD.

After six years though, the show came to an end, but not before it went out with a big musical bang. With Hayden Pannetiere leading the way, after the departure of Connie Britton, the 120-episode run wrapped up with a real-life aftermath. There were no murders. No big dramatic exits that seemed way to other the top. And no change in direction for the music. It stayed with what it knew best and built on that.

Made up of 16 episodes, the show begins almost a year after the death of Rayna James (Britton’s character) and the impact her departure has left on those around her. Maddie is still hoping to make it as a solo artist, whilst working on a new relationship with Jonah Ford. All while Deacon and Jessie get even closer, Zach leaves Nashville and Juliette tries to help others more, which actually leads to further tensions.

By the time audiences get to the final episode, aptly named Beyond The Sunset, the show comes full circle. The characters have grown up. They know what they want from life and their musical stories and they are going to do everything they can to ensure that they get it. In a similar way to that of One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls, it leaves with the message that hopefully will get you where you want to be.

While the characters haven’t always been people you believe in and the stories a little bit maddening, this idea is one that you can get fully behind. Especially when saying goodbye to a great bunch of actors.

The show may never have been the same without Britton, but for one season it showed that it could still have a voice and that the characters were still going to make sure that you had the time of your life.

There so, I am going to give this last trip to Nashville…
