With Cannes Film Festival over for another year, the world of film is basking in what they have just seen. But, out today for the first time ever on DVD, a Cannes cult classic is returning for all to see.

Smash Palace was the second feature for Roger Donaldson, starring Bruno Lawrence and Anna Jemison, in a film about the marriage between a racing driver and his wife. After nursing him back to health, the couple moves to New Zealand to start their married life. But blissful it is not.

Full of Cannes angst, the film shows the testing times between man and wife and the effects it has on them. There is a darker side to this New Zealand based feature than the ones we have gotten recently and it shows the diversity that the country has to offer.

For those who have not heard or seen anything about the film, it is a powerful release that will stay with you for a long time. If not for the story but for the way it captures their home.
