Starring Gabriel Byrne and Harvey Keitel, Lies We Tell has the promise to be a gripping crime thriller. However, what starts off well dips into dangerous territory and never comes back up.

Byrne plays the ex-chauffeur to Keitel's leading figure, who has since passed away. Working to keep his old bosses mistress under wraps, Byrne’s character faces the challenge of a lifetime.

At the start of the film, it looks promising and it is interesting to see these two actors coming together. Yet, as the film progresses it loses that hardcore feeling and becomes sloppy.

There is a sense that the scriptwriter lost his way and didn’t know what to do with the story from the halfway mark. This makes it hard to watch and when you get to the end of the crime thriller, you don’t have that great feeling a good film should leave you with.
