A Place To Call Home Season Five DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Who doesn’t love a TV show that is full of scandal, drama and love? On its fifth season, A Place To Call Home, which has been showing on BBC One, is full of this. With Marta Dusseldorp in the lead role, it is a hooking piece of television that lets you in even if you haven’t seen the other series.

Set in the 1950s, the show captures the life of nurse Sarah Adams, who returns to Australia after 20 years with a mysterious past that no one can crack. Including the wealthy family, the Blighs, who she meets on her way home. Full to the brim with stars, the show is one that the whole family can get stuck into.

It feels like one of those classic dramas that use to be shown on a Sunday night, as you enjoyed crumpets by the fire. Something that makes it very easy to see why it has lasted five seasons and continues to go strong. The dramatic nature of the 50s setting mixes in with the secretive lives of each family member.

An element that makes this a glorious show which has a Downton Abbey fill to it throughout. As Australian cinema and TV grows overseas, this show is one that everyone should be enjoying. Even if you can’t get into it, you will appreciate the details that are put into each moment, making it a stand out show episode upon episode.

There so, I am giving it…

4 Stars
