The Hitman's Bodyguard DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Place Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson in a film and you hope or expect the best. Both are two hilarious men, who know how to make a comedy work. However, in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, the duo is a twosome that just doesn’t seem to work.

Comedy partners have long been a thing in cinema, so it is easy for filmmakers to come up with ways to get them to connect. Yet, as Reynolds’ character Michael tries to save his country, whilst looking after and protecting Jackson’s Darius, a conman and Michael’s worst enemy, the script and story let down the film.

Reynolds gives his great sarcastic nature and it is this element that brings the laughs, whilst Jackson struggles to command the screen like normal. His best moments come through when he is with his on-screen partner played by Salma Hayek, who is one of the more funny characters out of the bunch.

When looking for an easygoing film, this may be the one for you. However, if you are looking for serious laughs than it may be best to leave this one out. Minute by minute, the story flips and flops between plot holes making for a confusing plot development.

It is a film that if you are looking to fall into on a Sunday afternoon or dip in and out of with friends and still know what is happening, then it is definitely one that you can do that with Lovelies.

There so I am giving it...
