Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Story DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Returning for a third film, Rise of the Footsoldier 3: The Pat Tate Story takes audiences inside the beginnings of one of the hardest men in cinema history. However, this prequel fails to bring to life anything that we may not have known before.

Starring Craig Fairbrass as leading man Pat Tate, the story captures his rise to being one of the biggest gangsters in Essex during the late 80s. Selling pills, coke and using his brute force to get what he wants, he soon falls into a downward spiral landing himself in prison. Unwilling to let his forceful nature go, he soon begins to rule the cells inside with violence and little mercy.

With fellow cast members including Terry Stone, Larry Lamb and Shaun Ryder, the film has the iconic British cast behind it but fails to bring to life the characters in the way that audiences knew them to be. Everything feels a little bit forced and there are too many gangland schemes to make it all seem at all believable.

There is little brought to the story, with Tate being an open character from the start, with his violent ways ruling the roost. In fact, due to his brutal nature, this is where the story is let down because instead of facts or words we get fists. Something we already knew he could use to get his explanation across.

Overall, the story lacks originality and fails to provide anything new. The only good thing about it is the soundtrack to the film. Yet, if you are a fan of the previous films, you may want to catch this to complete the collection. There so, I am giving it…
