Riviera Season One DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Do you ever dream of getting up in the morning and being in the heart of the Riviera? Same! Thankfully HBO was clever enough to take us all there easily, with their new show. However, it wasn't as I imagined it would be!

Riviera focuses on the life of Georgina Clios, played by Julia Stiles, as she tries to uncover the truth about her billionaire husband’s death on a yacht. Created by Neil Jordan, the show Stars GOT alumni Iwan Rheon alongside Julia, as she turns detective in a mystery that is all about money.

Opening with a burnt body and taking audiences on an adventure of mystery, the show uses the city to try highlighting the darkness amongst the rich. However, it isn't needed.

When placed in the heart of such a beautiful world, the plot goes a little wild. Stiles' unsure character doesn't make it easy on the viewer and not in a clever way. Thinking you have it all mapped out, the show takes an even bigger twist and makes everything go upstream in one of the glamorous yachts you see a lot of.

It feels like the show has been made in such a decadent place to make you concentrate more on the surroundings than the plot issues in fact. You fall in love with the surroundings that make the show appealing but nothing else about it.

This is a sad fact as the team behind the show could not be any more talented. Stiles and Rheon are known for entertaining audiences, so the sad matter of a lacklustre script and plot causes issues for them.

For a mystery of this grandness, there needed to be more done to bring them to life and the story too. There so I am giving the show...
