The Hunt DVD Review

07:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

There are some directors in this world who have a great ability to shock us. From true love stories to horror that is to much to handle, filmmakers have a way of making us think whilst we sit back and try to relax.

One director and one film that does this is Thomas Vinterberg with The Hunt, his latest film which is out today on DVD and Blu-ray. Starring Mads Mikkelsen, the film earned Mikkelsen the Best Actor at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for his performance of Lukas, a divorced primary school teacher who is trying to win back custody of his son. Outcasted by his local community, Lukas finds himself in the heat of an innocent lie that makes everyone turn against him.

The Danish director has provided a film that is worthy of more than one award. The performance from Mikkelsen is a game-changer, as the father figures emotional turmoil is presented on screen with courtroom battles and lifestyle changes.

Whilst plots and storylines have been presented like this before, there is something that Vinterberg has done to make this feel fresh and that is the beautifully shots he has taken. Every detail has been thought about. Every father son moment is treated with care and the plot leaves nothing behind.

It was worthy of a Cannes prize because of this and I believe it is worthy of this...
