The Food Network's The Fakery Bakery Opens It's Doors!

Good Afternoon Lovelies, 

Yesterday I had probably one of the most hectic but fun filled days of my life! After starting at my new job, which I seriously think I am going to love, I was kindly invited along to The Fakery!


The Fakery, which is only open for a few days, was created by the Food Network to celebrate their new show Bakers Vs Fakers, starting on Wednesday 9th August at 9pm.

Alongside an amazing group of bloggers, the event was held at Food at 52, a cookery school in London and hosted by the brilliant Juliet Sear, who has just released a new cook book full of cute and inspiring recipes called Kawaii Cakes. Inspired by Japanese treats, Juliet brought her creations to life in the room whilst also teaching us how to do so too!



During the session, Juliet showed us how to transform a shop bought cake in very very easy steps. In fact, you wouldn't even need to use a shop bought cake, as the steps are so easy! Having crumb coated the cakes for us, Juliet showed us how to line and smooth the cake with butter cream before adding sprinkles to the base.

Once this was done we placed them into the fridge to chill - I didn't because I was late aha! - and whilst we waited we got to work on the cake and chocolate inspired ice cream model that would go at the top of the cake.



This was honestly so easy Lovelies and I was shocked at how quick it could transform the cake! It made it look so much better. Especially once we had added the melted pink chocolate to the top and sides of the cake to make it appear as though the ice cream was melting!

After placing the whole creation together, we popped them back in the fridge to chill before boxing them up. During this time Juliet showed us even more helpful and clever tips to transform a cake.



Never did I think that some of the beautiful cakes in the shops would be able to be reproduced so easily. The rainbow clouds and colourful icing features were recreated in front of my eyes and I instantly wanted to go home and bake some more to see what I could do next thanks to Juliet!

With a cake to build this weekend and my ever-growing love for baking, The Fakery session was the perfect way to end a great day. Going home with a cake box and a kindly gifted book from Juliet, I realised that I had had such a good time that I forgot I had an apron on. Thank you, Juliet!!!
