Gotham Series Three DVD Review

10:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

For a long time not, even with Batman Vs Superman and Suicide Squad, Gotham has been leading the way for the world of the bat. Focusing on the police side of the DC world, the show captures our favourite heroes and villains at their best and worst in some cases.

Now as season three gets released on DVD, Blu-ray and digitally as of today, I thought it was time to delve into the latest season to see if it matched up to the previous seasons we all fell for.

With everyone back in their leading roles, the chase is on in the third season, as the deadliest catch to date for Jim Gordon (played by Ben McKenzie), as he tries to protect the city from being destroyed by the fugitives who have escaped from Indian Hills. Over the course of 22 episodes, the show sees the introduction of Hugo Strange and his subject Fish Mooney, who are some of the most menacing figures to enter the show, adding excitement and thrills.

As Gordon works hard to bring justice down on those threatening to destroy everything he knows, the show has a real charm about it with the added Bruce Wayne younger years. It feels like a piece of Smallville and an also unseen side of Wayne is being brought to light, which was where the recent DC films could have been going wrong. Strange and Mooney’s villainous ways are also subject to this, as they haven’t been baddies many have seen before. Something that makes them even more fun to watch and learn about.

McKenzie, along with many others in the show, still gives audiences a Gordon that would make any comic book fan proud of. He knows how to capture the tough exterior and softer inside emotions of the character, which pans out well when faced with these deadly figures on screen.

Out of all the previous seasons in fact, this is where McKenzie strives the more. Maybe it is the recent work of having a young Wayne in the show or the build up to even more evil, but whatever it is is working in favour for the DC world. It is actually more enjoyable to watch this then some of the more recent DC worlds (Wonder Woman not included in this statement), as the characters are built with more hopes, devilish charm and humour.

Season three of Gotham is one that will help the shows fourth season build into further darkness and brilliance. If it carries on being as good as this one!

There so I am giving this a super…
