Resident Evil: Vendetta DVD Review

07:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Resident Evil has been one of the most successful film franchises of all time and now, after recently ending, it has had a bit of a makeover. Out on DVD and Blu-ray as of now, Resident Evil: Vendetta is an animated version of the film, which hooks you into the world of the fame a little bit more than the live-action films do.

With animations that reflect those of the world-famous game, viewers are treated to the story of returning characters Chris Redfield and Leon S.Kennedy, as well as new face Rebecca Chambers, as they work to stop a deadline virus ruining New York.

Director Takanori Tsujimoto’s feature animation has a story of vengeance but also one of love for the gamers who made this story possible. The creation of such a plot from the game could have only come from the mind of someone who knows what is expected by other fans. Information they would have only known by being fans of the games and franchise itself.

Whilst the story isn’t so brutal, it is full of action and beautiful sequences that some could say was lost in the live-action stories towards the end. The amount of care for detail is key here. However, it is easy at times to let the characters run a little wild because of this.

Filled to the brim with added special features, the filmmakers make sure that you miss no part in the process of bringing the story from gaming screen to the big screen. Talking through early sketches to the way in which motion capture was used in the film, the creators have allowed audiences to see more of the thoughts that go into the filmmaking process than the films before did. It makes the world of the game and the place this story came to life seem much more valuable.

There so I am giving the film...

3 Stars
