Boccaccio 70 DVD Review

07:30:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Female empowerment is right at the front of many of our films this year. And about time too. With the incredible Wonder Woman breaking box office records, The Beguiled looking set to take over award season and more female led films in the works, we are finally heading in the right direction.

Especially in terms of home releases, as CultFilms, have released four empowering tales in Boccaccio 70, which is out today on DVD, Blu-ray and digitally. Taking on the sexual revolution in post-war Italy, the films, The Temptation of Dr Antonio, The Job, The Raffle and Renzo and Luciana, have all been given a makeover to present their female leads in the right light. With added extras on top, the films have all the Hollywood glamour they were intended to have.

Stand out performances include Sophia Loren, Anita Ekberg and more, as they give some of their best bt most forgotten performances. Ones that are now catching the eyes of future filmmakers and designers including Woody Allen and Armani. People who have taken the looks and talents from these films and allowed them to influence their own pieces.

Whilst the four tales are a rich look at female sexuality, the most amazing part about them is that even in post-war Italy, they knew there needed to be a change in the way women are shown on screen. This release will hopefully make the change taking place even more bold today.

There so I am giving the films and release…

4 Stars
