Away DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Starring Juno Temple and Timothy Spall, the film Away, directed by David Blair tells the story of a young woman and her partner-in-crime as they try to save each other from the horrible conditions and people surrounding them.

Following them to Blackpool, the film tells the story of Joseph and Ria in a very different and hard way. With flashbacks throughout and moments of pure hard-core British drama, the film is an emotional journey from start to finish.

It is a reflection of the classic 90s dark dramas that dominated the film scene. It is a reflection of the classic British films that we have become so familiar with and this really makes it stand out. However, it also holds it back a little bit.

There is a sense that the film is just trying to copy what we have already seen before at times. It could be because of the well-known films like Alfie and The Full Monty showing the dark thrilling elements British films once had, but it doesn’t hook you in like the other films do.

This is why I am giving it...
