Good Morning Lovelies,
Based on the best-selling book by St John Greene, Mum’s List
tells the story of one mother’s relationship with her sons and her battle with
cancer. Starring Rafe Spall and Emilia Fox, the adaptation is a heart-breaking
look at the never ending love for one family.
When Fox’s character Kate, is told that she has incurable
cancer, she creates a list for her two sons with her wishes for the two of them
on. Upon her sad death, the family work to complete all of the wishes she left
on Post-It notes and in letters.
Directed by Niall Johnson, the creator has made a film that
touches every emotion that the audience has. There are moments where you heart
swells with happiness and then breaks because of the horrible consequences the
illness causes for the family.
From harrowing moments in hospitals to Spall’s widow figure
having to deal with telling his sons about their mother’s death, there isn’t a
moment that you will not be thinking about for a long time after watching the
film.
A key aspect that makes the film so remember able is the
score by Amelia Warner. Every small detail has been thought of and the real
agony and heartbreak that the family goes through is tied to each chord of the
score music.
When placed together, the acting, music and script are all
incredible and will stay with the audience for a long time to come. This
British film is going to be one you want tissues for lovelies. Maybe even a few
boxes.
Overall the film deserves this...
