Captain Fantastic DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Last summer the Film4 Summer Screen welcomed Captain Fantastic. Starring Viggo Mortensen, the film left many people unsure of how it was going to play out, but since its release, the film has gone on to become one of the most successful films of last year. And rightfully so!

Actor turned writer, Matt Ross, has created a family who after years of living on their own in the woods are forced to return to normal life after the death of their mother and wife.

Leading the way Mortensen plays the incredible father figure who must help guide his children to adapt. Whilst also learning how to adapt himself.

When the world normally sees these figures there is an air of judgement surrounding them. They normally have something wrong with them or there is something that has caused them to do what they do. But in this film, there isn’t that presence. There is the sense of a family who was looking to do what they pleased and escape the horrors of the real world.

The on-screen family is captured in a light-hearted and innocent way, as they struggle to come to terms with the death of the mother of the family. And this all comes down to the great acting from Mortensen. He manages to make your emotions run and run throughout the film, in all sorts of different angles.

There is nothing he doesn’t do in the film that doesn’t make the audience react and as you are watching you can see why he has got so many award nominations.

It is the perfect film to watch at and outdoor cinema and the perfect film to now cosy up to this winter. There so I am giving it...
