The Conjuring 2 DVD Review07:00:00
Good Morning Lovelies,
When it comes to horror films I don’t like to think of them being so close to home. But in the case of The Conjuring 2, it is actually a story based on a home only 20 minutes away from me. And weirdly this intrigued me quite a bit.
For many the story of the Enfield home that was and continues to be haunted by a poltergeist is well known. However in The Conjuring 2 they take us back in time for another trip. This one is a lot more sinister, dark and well ghoulish to be honest. After a successful first film, the story in this one needed to be amped up and this it was.
The return of the previous characters make the case seem more real. You feel as though you are following them on a trail and this ultimately leads you into the horror and scares. There are tons of scares in fact.
The people behind these films know how to get an audience to react. When a certain nun appears behind the lead character, you will never be prepared. Stomachs will drop and you will flinch back in your chair because of it.
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have worked hard together to bring us a romantic couple but also a pair who are not afraid to test their limits. Both try their hardest to get the audience to feel something. Whether it is happy or sad, audiences know that this story will not be leaving them for a long time.
Overall for a sequel the film is a successful one. It doesn’t make you go back in time. You are not trying to compare them. You are in fact in the heart (not a gore reference) of a new story. One that audiences know more about but get something new from.
This is why I am giving this ghoulish treat...
