Race DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Telling the story of one Olympians journey, Race, which was out in time for Sports Aid, shows audiences the battle Jesse Owens’s faced when it came to contending in the 1936 races. With a magical feeling that reflects hopes and dreams, the film does lack in telling all of Owens’s story.

When you are making a film like this it is important to do this and this is something it lacks completely throughout. As an audience the look and feel leaves you excited, but with the lack of all historical elements being told you feel like you are missing out on something.

If the filmmakers had made sure to include it all this would be an award winning film. It should have been more passionate about the way Owens’s got to live his dream and less focused on how it could capture the characters, who many of us don’t like, in a nice flattering light.

The film is a great demonstration of highlighting sporting legends, but it fails to bring to life the story of Owens’s to the full and that is what lets it down the most.

There so I am giving it...
