Hector DVD Review

Good Morning Lovelies,

Christmas films are normally sugar coated balls of joy. Elves, love and madness are always ensured when it comes to the holiday season pieces, but in Hector, you are given another message. On Halloween, I know it is a bit early to be speaking about a Christmas film, but this is one that needs to be discussed.

Starring Peter Mullan as Hector, the film follows him as he goes around the country looking for answers in the lead up to the holidays. Hector, who is homeless, shows the honesty behind people and the way in which they live in the world.

There are figures you will never forget and ones that stick with you. From the shelter owners who save a bed for Hector to his family, the way in which the film presents them shows that no matter what you are important and you make someone’s day by being here.

That may be going a little deep for the film, but it is true and it is the way in which the director has made the film. It is a film with a meaning and it will stay with you for a long time after watching it.

It is a different Christmas film. No film is really like this and while it isn’t a cheery Christmas film, it has a way of spreading a different kind of cinematic magic.

There so I am giving it...

5 Stars
