OUR KIND OF TRAITOR DVD REVIEW

08:49:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Ages ago I kept seeing posters for the film, Our Kind of Traitor. I posted about it on the blog, I looked into the book but I never managed to see it when it had its limited run at the cinema. Based on the book that was written by John le Carre, the man who also made The Night Manager, this film seemed like it was my cup of tea.

Starring Ewan McGregor, Stellan Skarsgard, Naomie Harris and Damien Lewis, the cast was a great mix of high levels of talent. And to top this off the story was highly engaging and a gripping viewing. The film is a story about a couple who go on holiday only to become trapped by a money launderer who causes them to come under threat leading to a high mixed chase between the mafia and the British Secret Service.

All of the stars in the film have character experience with the themes that are represented throughout Our Kind of Traitor, but the way in which each of them makes their characters seem independent from others is what makes this so interesting.

There is a sense of British grit throughout the film leading to a sense that you must watch on to find out what happens to the characters. From Lewis’ dramatic secret service agent, who wants and will fight to make sure the couple stay alive to Skarsgard putting on a cracking performance as the villain in this feature, who is likeable in many senses; this would work in any situation.

Director Susanna White has taken her talents from working on small screen productions and made an even bigger hit that is worthy of its big screen feature.

And that is why I am giving the film…

5 Stars
