Good Morning Lovelies,
Have you ever wanted to be someone else? If you could be
what would you do? In the new documentary, Author The JT Leroy Story, it shows
how one person manged to trick the world into thinking she was someone else.
With never before seen footage, interviews and personal
elements, the documentary film shows how Laura Albert managed to make herself
known as JT Leroy. When writing her books, poems and insightful information,
she would distribute under the JT name.
Her world at home was completely different to the person
behind the books and the documentary is an interesting eye opener at what
happens. From bizarre moments of complete and utter mind trickery with phone
calls to famous people to sitting in her own readings with the audience around
her not knowing that she was in fact the writer, it is like you are finding out
about two people.
The documentary shows you how she went from being an icon to
someone who was disgraced in the media. It is harsh and there is a lot of
meaning behind the things that she was doing. When the film gets going it can
become one sided but the documentary manages to hook you in and stay until the
end.
There is a huge contrast between the two people. The real
and the fake. One has a very open and glamourous seeming life and the other is
more affected but what has happened to her. It is like she was living out her
dreams in this other form.
As a documentary it is one of the best I have seen in a long
time. Not many people my age know the figure and her story but after watching
this you want to know more. You want to know everything about her and how she
did it.
