In January the Golden Globes took place and the world went made for all the films that had been selected for the competition. One of them being The Brand New Testament, a film that was nominated in the Best Foreign Film Category.
Created by Jaco Van Dormael, the film sees God living on Earth. In Brussels to be exact, as it is found that the figure is in fact real and living. However unlike the figure people think he is, God is in fact a man who is afraid of the way people act towards his family, causing him to lock them up in a small apartment in the city.
The film is a comedy that tests the morals of many and the religions that people have built but in a comical way. There is no one who could say that this film hasn’t been created to show the modern influences that people have begun to explore in religion and it has a feel to it that reflects comical religious pieces such as The Book of Mormon.
A stand out performances comes from his daughter Ea, who is able to test the figure further by hacking into his computer in a scene that makes you wonder if everything you ever thought about the figure is real or not. But definitely not in a bad way.
And because of this I am giving the film…
