HANGMEN ALSO DIE! DVD AND BLU-RAY REVIEW

08:46:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Recently I have been watching a lot of wartime classics. I think it is because of the amount of time I have spent with my grandad in the recent weeks. There so I was happy to view the classic film, Hangmen Also Die!

Created during the war, the film was made by four German exiles, who wrote a film that focuses on the lives of those in a town. The film sees a man murdered and a whole town being palced on lock down to protect them from the evils that they are faced with.

The film is a clever mixture of looking at how the times influence the work of others. There are continuous metaphors throughout that lead you to think about what each scene could really mean.
You want to know as an audience member what was going through the actors playing the characters  minds as they made the film and the people behind the scenes too.

However unlike some classics this film does drag in places. There is a lot of stuff that has been added but is really not needed in the story. Not much of it benefits the viewer and so it can become very slow to follow.

And because of this I am giving the film…

3 Stars
