Good Morning Lovelies, I don’t know about you lovelies but when I was told a film was coming out starring Mr Luther himself Idris Elba and Richard Madden, I got excited. Both of those actors make for great viewing (I have been in a room with Madden while he has acted) and both have talents that should be seen a lot more highly off. In their latest film, The Take (formerly known as Bastille Day), Madden and Elba play cat and mouse with each other as Madden’s character finds himself being chased by Elba’s detective. The two are however pushed together and must work to solve the problems Madden’s character has placed himself in. Elba is on top form again as a detective in this film. A role that is perfect for him. However it isn’t as good as him normal detective form. The film makes him appear a little bit too over the top and it is trying hard to put him in the same form as Luther but with a different circumstance it doesn’t work. However don’t let it put you off because Elba does rein it in in his own manner and style that only he can do. And Madden plays a very good sidekick to his detective. The film is also great at showing the city in a light that mirrors Bond’s look at the way in which a scene can make a film. It is sad that a film like this matches many things that have happened recently. It is a sadness that makes it hard to watch in fact and if you are not ready then please don’t view this. While Elba and Madden are a great team there is still a story to this. Overall however I am giving the film…

Good Morning Lovelies, With its 30th anniversary coming up, Sid & Nancy is still one of the most rock and roll films to have ever been made. Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb play the figures with madness, love and dark undertones that people still remember well. The film is a representation of one of the most famous punk love stories around and the consequences that led to disaster. The Sex Pistols still to this day know how to cause a scene and with a film like this it definitely tells a story of what people wanted to know and has incredible acting talents within it to do so. Oldman plays Sid Vicious, the bass guitarist for The Sex Pistols, as he falls for groupie Nancy, played by Webb, who has come to England to be with him. However as Sid falls deeper into his drug taking there is an added strain amongst the band members adding pressure to the pairs relationship and the dynamic of the group. The story is one that many people know and will continue to hear about in music history. It is a story that still chills many and shows the side effects of what sex, drugs and rock n roll can do to people. Oldman and Webb have shared with many audiences a love story that is so wrong but so right at times. Add in the classic lyrics, original songs and the way, in which the music adds a spice of life for the actors on screen, it explores a breakdown like no other. It is the breakdown of a couple, a band and all together a great moment for rock n roll. As the cult status surrounding the film continues to grow every day, the film is sure to continue to celebrate its anniversary for years and years to come. It has earned this rating for all the right reasons and will continue to earn ratings like this for a long time. So without further ado I give Sid & Nancy…

Good Morning Lovelies, Growing up I would religiously watch Chucklevision after school. I can remember the theme tune well and the two brothers with fond memories. These memories made me very excited when I received seasons one and two on DVD. Taking viewers back to the start, the new box sets have added features and classic episodes labelled and placed into different categories making them easy to enjoy. There is no taking away the classic magic of this show. There is a sense of nostalgia as soon as you hear the theme tune that instantly makes you smile. Your memory starts bringing up things that you have forgotten and you are able to recall the classic moments. For any 90s/00s child this is the perfect way to spend an afternoon or day in my case. I forgot how good shows could be until I watched this and I was happy to find a fun alternative way to transport me back in time. So from me to them (oh yes I am going there), I am giving them...

Recently I have been watching a lot of wartime classics. I
think it is because of the amount of time I have spent with my grandad in the
recent weeks. There so I was happy to view the classic film, Hangmen Also Die!
Created during the war, the film was made by four German
exiles, who wrote a film that focuses on the lives of those in a town. The film
sees a man murdered and a whole town being palced on lock down to protect them
from the evils that they are faced with.
The film is a clever mixture of looking at how the times
influence the work of others. There are continuous metaphors throughout that
lead you to think about what each scene could really mean.
You want to know as an audience member what was going
through the actors playing the characters
minds as they made the film and the people behind the scenes too.
However unlike some classics this film does drag in places.
There is a lot of stuff that has been added but is really not needed in the
story. Not much of it benefits the viewer and so it can become very slow to
follow.
And because of this I am giving the film…

Good Morning Lovelies, After reviewing a lot of Frightfest films recently I have become a bit of a fan. So when I was sent the next and newest release, Road Games, I wanted to see how it would match up to what I had seen before from the event. Starring horror film legends and taking inspiration from classic horror films, the film follows a young couple as they are try to hitch hike a trip home but end up being left in a horrible situation. The film is a very dark story and there are gruesome moments galore but there is something clever about it. There is a sense from the beginning of wonder. You wonder why this couple would hitch a ride. You wonder why this couple would allow the others into their home. And you wonder how the film could possibly not end badly for all of them. Like classic films such as Wolf Creek and also a little bit of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the film is trying to make and take the viewers to the 80s, when horror films were at their best. The director has used his influences to remind audience members of what has been missing from cinema screens for a long time. It is this material and the mix of the new genre that has end this film…

Good Morning Lovelies, To mark the upcoming release of The Night Of... on Sky Box Sets, I thought we would celebrate by looking back at some of the greatest shows that have looked into memory loss and the consequences it has for the characters.
All the below shows have left a mark on the world for all the right reasons and it looks like The Night Of will to…
The Hangover: Probably the funniest case of memory loss ever seen on screen, The Hangover sees three men try to find their best friend before his wedding. As time begins to run out, marriages seem to end and teeth get pulled out the film follows their every mishap and makes cinematic comedy gold.
Memento: Nolan’s Memento is a film that will stand the test of time. With a nonlinear narrative, black and white colouring and a storyline that will keep you guessing right up until the end, the photographic film will have you wanting to know what happened to the character all the way through.
Blindspot: When a woman turns up naked, tattooed and in a bag in the middle of New York her memory loss symptoms cause the show to take a very dark turn. Viewers are hooked from the get go and the character becomes more and more interesting as the series goes along.
50 First Dates: Starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, 50 First Dates is a film that will stand the test of time. A romantic comedy with a difference, Sandler’s character finds himself having to remind the girl he loves why they know each over every day after a terrible accident. A true love story.
The Night Of…: The latest series to join Sky Box Sets follows a man as he tries to piece back together the night before. After parting with a young woman he finds her dead the next day and has no recollection of how it happened. Putting all the missing elements together during the course of the eight part series, this is going to be an epic watch lovelies.
Catch the show when it is released on to Sky Box Sets from the 1st September lovelies!

And how are we all today? We have done it lovelies! We have
made it through another week and there so it is time to get the Friday party
started! And some very exciting rappers turned actors have come to join us.
To mark the release of BrOTHERHOOD in cinemas, I have a
feature for you all to enjoy taking a look at some world famous rappers who
made the change from stage to screen. I will admit lovelies I did not write the
feature, as I think the writer deserves the credit, but it is a fun way to
start the weekend.
Enjoy…
Over the years, countless rappers have had a shot at making
the transition from beats to screens. For many, it transpired into something a
little far off the long and fulfilling career in acting they imagined. However,
the lucky few that proved their theatrical capability against the odds have
continued to become central figures within the film industry. To celebrate the
release of BrOTHERHOOD in cinemas, we take a look at the top 5 that managed to
effortlessly become big screen icons in addition to their reputations in the
rap game.
Will Smith: Undoubtedly one of the most celebrated movie
stars…ever; there are few actors with the widespread appeal of this ex “Fresh
Prince.” He refined his acting ability on the popular show, The Fresh Prince of
Bel-Air, before making a permanent hop to features with 1996 smash Independence
Day. Even in the two decades since then, he’s delivered almost non-stop box
office hits and earned a reputation as the crème de la crème for rappers who
are trying to catch a break.
Ice Cube: This notorious founding member of American rap
group N.W.A, may have followed up the release of musical masterpiece Straight
Outta Compton with a immensely successful solo career, but in the early 1990s,
his film career arguably blew up just as big. He made his debut in Boyz n the
Hood before headlining his own knockout franchises in the likes of Friday and
Barbershop. Most recently, he’s put his passion into N.W.A biopic Straight
Outta Compton, where is son stars as Cube in his younger days.
Queen Latifah: It only took her debut album “All Hail the
Queen”, to prove herself a force to be reckoned with in the music world. But it
certainly didn’t just stop with songs; Latifah earned an Oscar nomination for
her standout performance in Chicago and has appeared in several sensation
films, including Set It Off, Bringing Down the House and big-screen musical
Hairspray. Not bad for someone who had little acting experience before starring
in Fox sitcom Living Single.
Mark Wahlberg: Former nominal frontman for hip hop group
Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, Mark Wahlberg has come leaps and bounds since
making his film debut in 1994 Renaissance Man. Presently, the
rapper-turned-actor has become an indispensable instrument to many a box office
hit, thanks to the likes of Boogie Nights, The Other Guys and Ted. Most
notably, he earned an Oscar nomination for his role in The Departed and has
established a successful run as a producer of Entourage and Boardwalk Empire.
Stormzy: It’s fair to say it's been a good year for the
rising grime MC, but it looks as if it may take another positive turn for
Stormzy, with the Thornton Heath artist set to make his acting debut in new
release BrOTHERHOOD.
Catch the film as of today lovelies!

Good Afternoon Lovelies, Today I have been really spoilt. After the popcorn arriving this morning, I was shocked to discover another parcel waiting for me to enjoy. This one was another winter treat but with a difference, as I was gifted a gorgeous BKLYN Fur bobble hat.
Created with luxury materials, the bobble hats have been all over social media as more and more people fall in love with them. After witnessing a chance to try one on Bloggers Required I wanted to see what the hats were like as I am desperate to find the warmest items for winter. Although it may be the hottest few days of the year so far, I was quick to pop on the hat and give it a go. From walking around the house to standing outside I found the hat really comfortable and it managed to keep my ears super warm.
I know that with the heat at the moment it may not be the best time to try it but I really liked how it felt and was pleased that it didn’t go sliding around on my head, which other hats do a lot. I am sure that when it comes to standing outside cold cinemas in the winter my head will be snuggled up and warm. I liked how the colour worked with lots of different outfits and that it didn’t try to push my glasses off of my face. With how thick the product is you would think that it would cause problems but it doesn’t.
I will be honest and admit that I had never heard of the company before seeing them on the website, but I now really trust them. At £55 they also seem a little expensive and I was shocked when I first saw it, but after trying them and seeing how good the quality is then I can see why they are that amount of money. You are paying for what you get which is a nice, soft and very stylish hat that will stand out in the winter. Especially when you see the big and bold bobble on top which is very soft to touch. I am actually worried about how the rain will affect it because I don’t want it to be damaged.
I am so thankful to BKLYN for allowing me the chance to try one of their products and I now know when the winter screenings begin I will be super warm in my hat outside the wet and snowy cinemas.
You can find out more about the BKLYN Fur Bobble Hats on social media or their website lovelies! And don’t forget to share your looks to inspire us all :)

Good Afternoon Lovelies, This morning I had a very exciting parcel arrive that had my whole family excited. At the moment I am working on a very big project that will be coming out at the end of the year, but to prepare for it I was asked if I would like to try something new.
Joe & Seph’s have been a firm favourite in our house after my family tried it last Christmas. My mum spent most of December last year tucked up and enjoying the different Christmas flavours while enjoying all of the Christmas TV in fact. This made me super excited and happy when I opened a parcel from the company with a ton of special flavours that are coming out and working alongside the holidays. From Christmas Eve snuggles to seasonal parties, the popcorn is so flavoursome that it isn’t like normal popcorn. It has a sense of being a fancy popcorn that is somewhat allowed to sit pride of place on the table when you are handing out nibbles to guests. And that is what they are going to be doing this year again lovelies.
In the box I was gifted with I was sent the flavours Caramel and Sea Salt, Mince Pie, Toffee Apple and Cinnamon, Gingerbread and Brandy Butter. All of which are perfect Christmas flavours to enjoy with the likes of Love Actually, Home Alone and Elf. As soon as the parcel arrived I knew I had to get my regular taste tester to have a try of some of the flavours. Taking the labels of the packets, I made sure to hand my family members – my mum, nephew and niece – each flavour (don’t worry I kept the alcohol one away from the kids) to them and asked them what they thought they were.
My mum instantly could tell the gingerbread and mince pie flavours, as they were her favourites last year and she could happily sit and eat them all. My niece and nephew were big fans of the caramel and sea salt flavour. This has already given my mum ideas on what to put out at Christmas now. Keeping the brandy butter a secret my mum was quick to tuck in and she instantly knew what it was meant to be. She told me that she could imagine putting the popcorn over her ice cream at Christmas as a sweet added treat and I thought it was a great idea. She could even use them in waffles. A bit more expensive than your normal popcorn, Joe & Seph’s has a reason for being so. The flavours are strong and pop in your mouth. They provide what they say and they are an added bonus to have at Christmas when you should be pampering yourself in yummy foods.
Joe & Seph’s are onto another winner here! Bring on Christmas and all these flavours!

Good Afternoon Lovelies, And how are we all? I have just spent a long time in a freezer aisle in our local shop trying to cool down. Honestly whoever invented it is a hero and so are the people in this feature lovelies! Celebrating the upcoming release of DC's Legends of Tomorrow on DVD, this feature takes a look at some of the greatest time travelling heroes and the mark they have left on the world. I will admit lovelies I did not write this, because I think the writer deserves the credit, but I wanted to share it all with you. Enjoy…
Whether it is a 50-year-long saga like Doctor Who or newer sci-fi hits like Primeval and Heroes, time travel has become a stable part of modern-day sci-fi. Time travelling heroes and heroines have been saving Earth from dinosaurs, aliens and monsters for decades, with some using their superpowers to jump through the eons whilst The Doctor chooses his famous blue box to zip through space and time. To celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release of DC’s own epic time-travelling saga, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow out August 29th, let’s take a look at the sci-fi spectaculars and their brilliant main characters.
Doctor Who – The Doctor: The mighty and mysterious Gallifrayen known only as ‘The Doctor’ is a renegade Time Lord who travels through time and space with various witty, brilliant and sometimes eccentric companions in his obsolete and "borrowed" Type 40 TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space). The Doctor has travelled through time and across stars on our TV screens for over 50 years, saving the cosmos thousands of times from Cybermen, Daleks, The Silence and the Weeping Angels to name but a few.
Primeval – Nick Cutter: When a secret government research team is tasked with investigating the appearance of doors through time and space known as ‘anomalies’ , they suddenly realise that a host of creatures from the Earth’s distant past and far off future are beginning to wander into the 21st century. The original team leader from seasons 1-3 was the evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter. Cutter and the team saved London from a 17-foot-long aquatic Mosasaur that appeared in a swimming pool, returned a Mammoth that was terrorizing the M25 to its home 8,000 years ago and fought off a brood of future predators that threatened humanity’s existence. DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – Rip Hunter: After seeing a future threatened by an immortal evil, the time-travelling rogue, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) assembles a team of not just heroes, but of legends. This rag-tag team of winged heroes (Hawkman and Hawkgirl), ice-gun-wielding criminals (Captain Cold), former assassins (White Canary) and even meta-humans from the future (The Reverse-Flash) travel through time to prevent the rise of the evil Vandal Savage, and save the universe. The former Time-Master Rip Hunter led the Legends behind the Iron Curtain of the USSR, brought them crashing down into Star City in 2046, and even fought gangs of outlaws in the Old West.
Back to the Future – Marty McFly: The awkward Californian teenager (played by Michael J. Fox) is the main protagonist of the timeless Back to the Future trilogy, and is the ‘first person to travel backwards in time’ after Doc Brown creates a time machine out of a DeLorean DMC-12. Marty first is sent back to 1955 where he accidently intervenes in his own parents meeting, and must ensure they fall in love to remain in existence. The first sequel to this classic movie involve Marty travelling forward to the year 2015 to help his future children, with the third instalment needing Marty to go back in time to 1885 to save Doc when he is trapped there. Life on Mars - Sam Tyler: The amazingly talented John Simm takes the role of Sam Tyler in the BBC show Life on Mars. After being hit by a car in 2006, the DCI (Detective Chief Inspector) wakes up in 1973 working in the same police station, albeit at a the lower rank of DI (Detective Inspector). It remains unclear throughout the series whether Sam is in a coma, mad or travelled through time, as parts of 2006 seem to bleed through into 1973.
Heroes – Hiro Nakamura: This shy evolved human developed the ability to bend time and space following an eclipse, and quickly starts to expand on his teleportation abilities to jump from Tokyo to New York in the blink of an eye. Hiro also has the ability to travel in time, which he uses to try and save the girl he loves, Charlie, from the murderous Sylar, but also travelled back to ancient Japan to restore Takezo Kensei to glory. Time-travel became an essential part of defeating the onslaught of villains in the Heroes saga, with more to come in Heroes: Reborn.
Which time travelling hero is your favourite?

If a live action Frozen film ever gets planned we know
exactly who should play Elsa now. Showing her true talents again Emily Blunt
takes on the role of Freya, an ice queen, in the prequel/sequel to Snow White
and the Huntsman, The Huntsman Winter’s War, ultimately making the film.
Beginning before the last film, Chris Hemsworth and Jessica
Chastain are joined together from their childhood after Blunt’s Freya is left
heartbroken and icy in her own kingdom after the death of her baby and her
partner. Banned from falling in Love, Hemsworth’s Huntsman and Chastain’s
warrior must prevent those around them from knowing about their growing bond.
However it doesn’t go to plan and the pair are soon
separated. Years later and a flash forward to after the last film, they are
brought together along with some Dwarf’s played by Rob Brydon, Sheridan Smith
and Nick Frost - comedy is a strong point when these characters arrive – to
bring the mirror to a safe place. But there plan is prevented by the return of
Charlize Theron’s Queen Ravenna who uses her sister to get her won revenge.
One of the most likeable things about the film is the
casting. Not as dark as the previous one, the characters all work well together
to make a stand out feature with some comedic moments. Whoever decided to place
Brydon and Sheridan together was a genius. As were the people who put Chastain
and Hemsworth together.
A dynamic duo, the pair makes a couple who don’t annoy you
with their ideas of love and the way they show it. They make the film interesting
and show the talents of their acting in the film but there is something that
the film lacks.
It definitely isn’t anything from the talents or the acting
they are displaying but it is something in the storyline. It isn’t boring or
bad, it just lacks the enthusiasm the first film had. It makes you want to see
a big action sequence but you don’t get that really. You get small ones but to
make a sequel the film needed to have a bigger scale action sequence.
Especially when that is what the film is shown to be like in the marketing of
it.
Blunt and Theron are very clever with their characters and
this could have been shown more. Hemsworth and Chastain’s character could have
fought more for their love or the chance to be together. It all seemed a bit like
a boring day at the office at times. It is really the comedy that saves this
film from being like any other action film.
Overall however the film is an enjoyable sequel that
explores the depths of the most likable character from the previous film. You
find yourself missing Kristen Stewart’s talents and I can only imagine how epic
the film would have been with her in it. This is a film to watch if you are
seeking only a little bit of action and a huge serving of comedy.
There so I am giving the film…

When I was a little girl I use to sit down with my dad and
watch the film Mr Big Fat Greek Wedding. It was a film that was constantly
shown in our home and if it is on the TV then we all sit and watch it. I don’t
know what it was about that film but it became a classic in our home and many
others, so when I heard a sequel was being made I was super happy.
After missing it when it was in cinemas I finally got the
chance to sit down and enjoy it a few days ago and I have to say I really
enjoyed it. Following Toula Portokalos Miller years after the first film, the
sequel sees her come to terms with her daughter leaving for college and her
parents having to remarry after a priest forgets to sign their certificate.
It is a film that feels like a warm hug. Relatives have come
back that you haven’t seen in a while and you feel at home almost instantly.
While it doesn’t scream award winner it makes you smile and laugh which is
perfect. Especially when you think about the cold winter months coming up.
Having been released alongside some big names, the film
again shows Nia Vardalos’ talents as a filmmaker, scriptwriter and overall
comedian. She knows how to capture what audiences want and shares the characters
new stories in a gentle way.
You never feel as though you have had to wait as long as you
have for the film to be made. You fall right in and you know how the story is
going to go. And even if it is obvious there is nothing that stops you loving
it.
There is a downside to the film however. While it is nice to
see the daughter and mother relationship and the parents’ marriage retold, you
do miss the elements of the first dates, marriage and love story of Toula and
Ian, played by John Corbett. Corbett seems to hardly be in the film and it is a
sad loss when you know that he can provide sweet and funny moments for an
audience.
It would have been nice to have seen him in the film a lot
more, as his time in the film and the first one were so enjoyable.
Overall the film is a great warm hug that will keep you cosy
on a winter’s day when you need a pick me up. This is why I am giving it…

Good Afternoon Lovelies, How are we all today? I am back at last after working out, showering and then power napping to bring you this horror film return lovelies, because the Ring franchise is alive.

Good Morning Lovelies, After taking a long time to be made, Jane Got A Gun, has finally been created and like lots of westerns it tries to refresh the classic Western genre. However it does end up trying a little bit too hard throughout lovelies. Natalie Portman steps in to play Jane, while Ewan McGregor and Joel Edgerton star alongside her as the people Jane calls upon in her time of need. All three of them are perfectly incredible actors but in this film they have been let down by the trying too hard script. Following Jane as she tries to defeat the men threatening her family, the film sees her taking on the fight. The film is very slow at showing Jane’s fight and the way in which she is trying to protect her home and loved ones. When it gets going it is really good and brings back to life the classic films that have made the western genre but it doesn’t have enough excitement at the start of the film to make it a great viewing experience for the western fan. All of the actors have the skills and they are desperately trying to play them off on screen, but when they don’t have the exciting story or scenes to play out they are unable to do so. Portman could have been so much more and she definitely tries her hardest to do so, but when the script she is given isn’t allowing her to be able to do so it makes it hard to watch. They are all actors who deserved so much more. Overall the film lacks life. It lacks a real sense of trying to make something enjoyable and that makes it hard to actually take in what is happening without getting a little bit bored. There so I am giving the film…

Good Morning Lovelies, A few weeks ago I was told about the film, Knight of Cups, which has an incredible cast and interesting storyline. Of course I was quick to ask if I could review the film and this weekend I sat down to do so. Starring Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, the film tells the story of Rick, a screenwriter who is struggling to find peace and happiness in his world. So he decides to use sex and women to help him try to find it. The film is very much like Shame but without a lot of the rude moments. It is a look at the breakdown of one man’s life and Bale plays it in a very interesting way that gives viewers mixed emotions. There are times you find yourself feeling horrible for his actions and at other times mad that he is finding help the way he does. However it isn’t the actions of Bale’s character that let’s down the reaction from the audience. It is in fact the way in which the tarot cards play into the story. There is a sense of the cards playing to much of a part in the tale and it becomes a story that can’t handle that. Bale, Blanchett, Freda Pinto and Teresa Palmer do their best to save the film from this but they can’t lovelies. And that is why I am giving it…

After a long time, Katie Holmes is back in her latest film,
Touched with Fire, starring alongside Luke Kirby, as the pair tell an interest
story about a pairs struggle with bipolar disorder. The film is a mixture of
love and pain which sees Holmes return on top form.
Following Holmes and Kirby’s characters, the film sees them
as they meet in a treatment facility before embarking on a relationship
together that causes them to make rash judgements about their love and their
illnesses.
Holmes is great at adding emotion in certain scenes while
Kirby seems to really be in love with her. However it is the ultimate story
that makes this film stand out. It is a great chance to see that they haven’t
lost the skills that they have always had.
It is a great chance for them to make the film a stand out
one and the issue they tackle is done with dignity and gentleness. However it
is not done in a way that makes it fresh and sometimes the story line can
become a little bit unreal which is why this film is lowered in the audiences
estimations.
Overall however the film is a story of two people and two
actors taking on something that many would be afraid to do so with. That is why
I am giving the film…

Fright Fest films are becoming a regular viewing in my home.
After witnessing a number of previous releases, it was time to sit down and
watch the latest release Rabid Dogs. A film I didn’t know much about and wasn’t
really sure what to expect from.
The film is a thrilling horror that sees a group of robbers
trying to rob a bank and having a number of problems arise. It is an intense
journey that sees the act goes from evil to even more villainous as the gang
take hold of a number of hostages to try and save themselves from being
arrested.
Rabid Dogs makes for hard viewing but for horror fans it is
a warm welcome. It is something that many will have been looking for in a world
that does a lot of the same things. Don’t ask to take the film easily because
believe me you will not be able to.
There are moments you wish to turn the screen off,
especially when they get very gory but overall there is a sense that the film
is a gripping and fresh thriller. A great choice for any horror fan.
This is why I am giving it…

Releasing another horror film for everyone to enjoy, Arrow Films have brought a classic Italian feature film called The Bloodstained Butterfly that will worry and scare the socks off many. It is very much a show that works well with the features we are watching every day. Telling the story of a murder that takes place, the film flicks between the consequences of the night and the court room scenes that make up the story. It has been scripted and developed to make you want to watch up until the end because each person has a story to tell. Each character and figure has something to say or something to explain. If you were to leave it and not carry on watching you would never know the truth. This makes it so watchable. For a film that probably many will not have heard of it is one many should be watching. It is a cross between Broadchurch and Scandal. A weird but wonderful mix. Featuring faces many will recognise from the 70s era, the time in which the film was made, stars such as Helmut Berger and Evelyn Stewart help to progress the film further with their talents. Both aren’t afraid to give their all in their performances to make their characters the remember able ones. This is why I am giving the film…

To celebrate summer lovelies, the time when the drinks flow
and the BBQ’s come out, I was tasked with recreating one of the new recipes
created by Jimmy Doherty along with AB InBev, to mark the opening of Barley
Beerstro.
Each recipe has been made to celebrate beer and barley together,
with each recipe have been created to work with the most popular beers in the UK
and around the world. With barley in each recipe, the super grain is showing
its talents at being very health beneficial.
So as a bit of a health lover I decided to have a go at one
of the recipes. The Budweiser Barley Summer Vegetable Risotto. I will admit now
lovelies that I am a baker and now a cook and also that our house is a bit of a
weird one with food. We are a bit of a
fussy bunch. Apart from my mum.
This meant I decided to make this recipe with her in mind,
with only a few changes such as taking out the spring onions and leeks because
she isn’t a big fan and replacing them with red onion and carrot. This did make
my risotto a lot darker in colour but the taste was still great.
After a near miss at getting myself and the food burnt, I
was underway with the recipe and found it very simple. While it takes 40 to 50
minutes to cook the barley in the stock and vegetables, it was really simple to
control and I even went and did a few blog posts while cooking it. I did have
to top up the stock a few times to make sure it didn’t dry out but overall the
cooking time was simple.
My house really smelt of beer and barley at this point.
However I didn’t mind. I am one of those people that like the smell of beer
being made. Honestly you should have seen me when we went into the room full of
scents at the Guinness Factory.
Once the barley was cooked and most of the liquid was soaked
in, I added in the peas and broad beans, leaving out the asparagus as my mum
isn’t a fan, and allowed for them all to cook together for a few moments. After
about five minutes I pulled the risotto off the hob and added in two different
cheeses and a hint of mint.
The recipe was really simple and I was pleased with the
outcome. Even if it wasn’t the colour it was supposed to be. And my mum, who
normally avoids my cooking, really enjoyed it. She saved the dish to have as a
summer meal in our garden. Although I did see her keep taking spoonful’s throughout
the day, which may have been why she slept so well because if she has any
alcohol she is gone aha!
If you want to try this recipe pop into the beerstro while it is still open or have a look online for all the recipes.
What is your favourite beer to have in the summer?
