THE LONE HAND AND MORE DVD REVIEWS...

Good Morning Lovelies,

And how are you all? I was very kindly sent a ton of classic films to review a few weeks ago thanks to Simply Media and I wanted to share my thoughts on them. There is a wide mix so be prepared aha!

The first film I watched was The Lone Hand…

Created back in the 50s, the film is a classic western thriller that follows a young cowboy as he tries to win back the money that he has lost to fix the money problems he now has. The film is a great look back at the genre that influenced so many other classic films and so well.

The acting is a key reminder to modern audiences of the talents those in the past had and the influences they had on the actors and people starring on our big screens nowadays.

Which is why I am giving it…

4 Stars

Up next in the film marathon was Melvin and Howard…

With one of the biggest casts and award winning ensembles, the film follows a comedy story that sees two characters with very different backgrounds and lifestyles coming together and meeting. It is a life changing meeting and one that adds a lot of comedic elements.

When looking at the different elements it is easy to see that this is where the comedy duos began. The 70s was all about the way two people connected on screen and the film pairing in this one is top level stuff.

There so I am giving the film…

4 Stars

Following on from this lovelies I watched Masquerade In Mexico…

The earliest film out of the all, the story shows a powerful woman as she comes to understand the people and the surroundings that she is left stranded in. It shows Mexico in a beautiful light while also placing a comedic story into the country with so much beauty lovelies.

As for the acting it is a comedic success and the fun that the cast allow to be explored makes them seem like a story that would work now as well as back then. It is obviously a film that allowed for the birth of others.

This is why I am giving it…

5 Stars

Continuing the watch-athon I found myself viewing One Desire…

Another western style film, this one sees two people embark on a journey to escape their past after working on a number of badly planned problems and actions. However the story isn’t as strong as others have been in recent times.

With a great cast including Rock Hudson, the film should be a great way of getting people to watch it and see amazing talent, however unfortunately there is a lack of the greatness the script and story can have. Or well could have had.

There so I am giving it…

2 Stars

The penultimate film I viewed was Never Say Goodbye lovelies…

Again another film starring Rock Hudson, this one is all about a doctor who discovers that the wife he thought was dead is actually alive and the consequences this causes. Different to anything I have seen before the film is an interesting comedy that has a serious tone to it to.

There is a real chance in this film to see the talents of Rock Hudson and the skills he has as an actor. Plus with a cameo from the future cowboy legend Clint Eastwood, Hudson is really able to share the screen with a lot of talent.

That is why I am giving it…

4 Stars

Finally I watched the film The Proposition…

As the final film to view, The Proposition, was also the film that was released the last. Starring Kenneth Branagh and Neil Patrick Harris, the film follows a priest and the people around him that he is trying to help.

The story is fun but also sad, with a key mixture of the two that makes the story interesting. With Patrick Harris not being as big of a name as he now is, the film is definitely one that changed his career and made him a stand out act. As does the performances from the other actors to.

This is the key beauty of the film in fact. Not the way in which they react or the stories in which they tell but their acting.

Which is why I am awarding the film this many stars…

4 Stars
