CHIEF CRAZY HORSE AND MORE SIMPLY MEDIA DVD REVIEWS...

08:21:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

And how are you all today? I am back with lots of reviews, and when I say lots of reviews I mean it, as I have a lot of classic films to discuss with you all. Over the past few weeks I have been holding a classics marathon with a load of films and I wanted to share with you all my reviews from them.

The classic film marathon began with the great ‘Chief Crazy Horse’ lovelies…

Chief Crazy Horse Review…

A completely original outlook to the western genre, this film shows the story and views of the native figure who is leading the way in this biographical piece.

His outlook on the story that is very real makes audiences want to watch on because it is not like the norm. You are seeing the story from the side of the normal placed villains and there is nothing bad about them or the filmmakers doing so in this film.

There so I am giving it…

4 Stars

The next film I watched was Dear Ruth…

This romantic comedy is a bit like ‘Catfish’, but set in the 1940s. The film shows a young woman pretend to be her sister when writing letters to a soldier at war, but she is found out when he returns home to visit her.

The film has a very original feel to it and will give old and young audiences something to laugh about as the comparisons between the hit show now on TV and this film are so clear throughout and it is clever that a film way back then did so.

Which is why I am giving it…

4 Stars

Up next in the marathon was College Swing…

Following a failing graduate, this film is a comedy mixed in with a musical that will have you laughing and singing along by the end of it. As it comes to the end of the year and times at university for many (me included!) it gave a positive outlook to a very hard time and the jolly way Gracie, the main character, picked herself up with.

Although the film is not sending one of the best messages out there with the idea that the girl should pass to get money, it is a great film to make you smile and will definitely put you in a sunny mood.

There so I am giving it…

4 Stars

Corvette K-255 was the next film I got stuck in with…

When this film was first released it had an Oscar nomination given to it and it is easy to why that was done. The film is a hard hitting war drama that shares with audiences a fresh look at the war that was still happening at the time.

It portrays the soldiers in a very real way and the stories must have been even stronger back then when audiences could see or draw interpretations from what they were seeing on screen to what was happening in the real world.

And as a modern audience member that makes it even harder to watch. It has been made with a heartfelt plea and it definitely makes an impact.

This is why I am giving…

5 Stars

Up next was the film Dawn at Socorro…

Another western but with more of the traditional pieces within it. However it does have a little difference. The film is a modern film created in the old film industry. The relationship between the two characters is the reason for this.

There is a great sense that the pairing between the two is mutual and they have the same needs to survive for each other than the norm, because they are not fighting to save each other in a way that makes one of the other appear weak in a certain way.

There so I am giving the film…

4 Stars

The Desert Hawk was the next review in the marathon…

Probably the most famous film out of the marathon was this one and that is noticeably because of the stars within the film. Rock Hudson, Richard Greene and many more provide a fantasy story that shows a similar storyline to that in ‘The Princess Bride’.

It is a fantasy story that probably was the beginning for all of the others that followed and there so the creators were the makers of a fine and brand new genre that followed. The princess in the film and the hero Omar are not the normal on screen characters, but they are fun.

And that is why I am giving the film…

4 Stars

Finally the last film in my marathon was Four Guns to the Border…

This film follows a gang led by Ray Cully as they decide to rob a bank and run away to Mexico with the money they have stolen. However of course it doesn’t go according to plan and the characters are faced with a lot of troubles along the way.

As a film there is nothing new or original about it. Even for the times in which it was created. There is a small part as an audience member who has watched a lot of films similar to this that makes you want to make only minor changes that would have made it more original.

And that is why I am giving it…
