Hey Lovelies, Starring some huge names, including Richard Gere, I was exciting (not as excited as my mum!) to sit down and enjoy the film 'The Benefactor'! And boy did it deliver!
This thriller presents multiply sides to Gere's character that keep audience members guessing throughout. With continuous twists and dark sequences, the film manages to hook in audiences from the word go. However there are a few problems with the film, as the dark twists are let down with the easy abilities viewers will have at guessing who has done what and for what reason they have done it and this is all because of the films script. While it starts off being a strong original piece, the lines start to become a bit repetitive making the films plot go on a bit of a downward spiral. And because of this I am going to give this film...

Hey Lovelies, With an all-star British and Irish cast, ‘Brooklyn’, provides a romantic look at New York with an incredible script and performance piece from Saoirse Ronan and many others. If you are looking for the perfect image of a romance that is tested but still remains beautiful.
Following a young Irish woman who moves to New York and works for an evil women, the film shows the highs and lows of her new life and the love she finds in the city after so many problems arrive. Ronan’s performance as the young woman is brilliantly explored and she gives such an amazing performance that it is easy to see why she has been given the award nominations. And it is not just her. The acting from Jim Broadbent, Julie Walters and other shows the talent in which those in the film have, as they highlight how much work they have done and the hard work that they have put in to the roles throughout their performances. Each actor and scene is presented in such a beautiful way in fact that the writer Nick Hornby should be proud of for creating and for making so powerful. There so because of this I am going to give the big city that never sleeps this huge…

Hey Lovelies, I have recently begun to fall in love with the documentary genre, and after watching a number of hard hitting films recently I found this one lovelies, as Metrodome released ‘The Visit: An Alien Encounter’!
After years of watching and listening to what we have been sending to them in outer space, the film follows how we would react if the aliens responded and the research in which those who have been sending those messages have found. Although the genre is often explored in the media and there is a lot of research documentaries out there already, this one allows for a fresh take to be seen as the creators share the ways in which the world would continue to live if the aliens contacted us.
Therefore I am giving it…

Good Morning Lovelies, Today I am posting something a little weird, but it could change my life! In the next few months I will be graduating university and when I leave I want to do something that will help people and change the world!
I want to go on an adventure and I want to go on it with Golin London, because I want to have fun and bring out a whole new side to my personality. If I were to go on an adventure I would run away and travel all around this beautiful world meeting new people.
The journey would allow me see the wonders of the world and if possibly in Ireland I would get married to the man of my dreams (Irish men are perfect aha!). In all seriousness though I would go on an adventure and look and see what the world is missing. And come home and create it.
I would see what the world needs and with the help of Golin’s team I would try to help change it for the better. I believe you can help everyone around the world with a little love and a lot of smiles and by going on this adventure I would spread that message.
My adventure would be about fun! Starting with this uplifting song that I want you all to dance to...

Good Morning Lovelies, It is actually quite a sad post this one lovelies because it marks the end of our interviews with the behind the scenes team of the new short film, ‘Cumulus’, lovelies! But I have something here that will keep that smile on our faces, as it is the big one! Oh yes it is time for the interview with the director of the film.
Ioan Holland has worked hard to bring this beautiful film to life and we talked about everything to do with it lovelies. I hope you enjoy hearing about it…
Firstly how did you come up with the idea behind Cumulus and how did you develop it?
Cumulus really came from my fascination with meteorology - that is the study of the atmosphere and clouds. I find the majestic movement of air and water through the planet’s atmosphere, the silent movement of a cloud the size of a mountain, absolutely enthralling and wondrous. It’s the idea of there being another world up there that inspired the story of Cumulus. The concept was initially a feature idea that was adapted for a short film, altering the characters and plot to tell a universal and beautifully simple story in a short space of time. It was important for me that the story convey wonder that someone watching may leave with wider eyes than they began with.
To help my readers understand the film, please could you explain what the film is about? And what is the message behind the film?
The film is about an adventurous young girl, Penwyn, who feels constrained by her safety-first Dad. On a beach walk one day, she decides to run off and have her own adventure, stumbling across a grumpy old Blue Footed Booby, called Mister Booby, a bird with a short temper and sharp wit. She and Mister Booby venture off into the world of the clouds to find his chicks who are flying the nest, learning about each other’s family and how their loved ones really feel as they go.
Are there any characters within the film that really stand out to you and that we should look out for when watching the film?
Penwyn and Mister Booby are the film’s main characters. In many ways, the two characters are antitheses of each other - Penwyn is wide-eyed, positive, and adventurous, while Mister Booby is frustrated, short-tempered, and safe. What we learn through their relationship is how to understand another’s perspective, and our capacity for love. It’s through them being more understanding of their loved ones and each other that they find a new lease of contentedness about their worlds and lives.
What is it about this film that makes it so important to the times and the audiences it is intended for?
The inherent message of the story is about our capacity for love and understanding. In a time where inequality and war still abounds, these are traits that we desperately need to focus on more in our world. When we seek to express love and take the time and consideration to understand one another, we can live more equal and peaceful lives. We have the power to change our own worlds by what we look upon, and I hope this film helps in some small way to shift people’s focus to something more awe inspiring.
How did you find all of the team members who you worked with behind the scenes and what was it about them that attracted you to working with them?
Bringing our team together was a combination of friends, and friends of friends and putting feelers out to find them, and trawling the infinite talent online. I was lucky enough to meet our producer, Gloria Daniels-Moss, through a live action web series I made earlier, while Rhian Marston-Jones — our voice for Penwyn - was found through an acting talent website. Finding the right people to work with is a combination of searching your personal networks and reaching out to find new people to work with, but most importantly to always express your message and the ‘why’ behind your film and story. Doing this will mean you should find the right people.
The animations within the film are stunning and look a lot like the work in which Studio Ghibli do, did you imagine your characters to look like this or did it change as you developed them more?
Thank you! Myself and Gloria are both huge fans of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli and the works are a big influence. When we were working on the concept work with our character illustrator, Alison Moon, we wanted to take some of the qualities that make Ghibli’s characters stand-out so well, and that’s the elegant simplicity of the way the faces are designed - using the simplest possible forms to convey the strongest possible emotions. It’s this ethic that we put into the designs, along with putting in elements of the personality and essence of the characters, and of course Alison’s artistic flare!
Animations have become a lot more focused on their adult audience members then young members in recent years; did you think about this a lot when creating this film?
It is not a conscious choice for me. What I wanted to convey with the film was a sense of wonder, something that inspired people and made them think ‘wow’ - not necessarily about the film itself, but about our world. When approaching from this angle, I think the style and the writing naturally becomes quite universal, much like a Pixar audience. The subject matter and raison d’être of Pixar films makes them accessible and enjoyable to anyone from children to adults to the elderly, and that’s what I wanted to achieve with Cumulus.
Is there any moments within the film that are truly special to you or that we should look out for because you are most proud of them?
The ending sequence is particularly special for me, as an exciting and beautiful little summation of the story. I won’t give too much away, but I think for me that’s where the message really begins to sink in, and I hope leaves the audience with bigger smiles and wider eyes.
The film is currently entering a number of short film competitions, what do you think makes it so different to the other short films that are out there?
I didn’t focus on being different to other films, but that the story and the style were a true expression of the vision I saw for them and, by extension, a true expression of myself. I think what stands out mostly about our film is the styling. I wanted to make sure the film felt tangible and real, and almost earthy - like you could touch it and feel the paper. Digital animation is wonderful, but all too often it feels distant and intangible, so I wanted to make something that felt very real and I hope we’ve achieved that.
Finally are you working on you next project yet? If so can you tell us anything about it?
We are still very much in the throws of this project at the moment, but we do have big plans for the future so do follow us on Twitter (@CumuluPictures) and sign up to the mailing list on CumuloPictures.com to hear of new developments and projects!
Make sure to support the hit new film lovelies! It is going to be huge! I can feel it in my bones!

Good Afternoon Lovelies, There are always those days when I don’t want to work, I don’t want to go to university and I don’t want to have any problems. I just want to have fun, bake and watch a ton of films while snuggled up in bed. And this afternoon Cadbury have allowed me to do so now that Uni is over for the day.
Upon coming home I was greeted with a big purple box lovelies and inside was a Cadbury treat that I am so thankful for, because if I wasn’t in the mood for Easter before, I definitely am now lovelies. I am obsessed with the holiday and spring time, so when I saw the treats inside I instantly started smiling and doing a silly Easter dance (which didn’t exist before this aha!). Inside the big box was three Easter eggs, including a mini Oreo, Crème Egg and Mini Egg one lovelies, as well as small bunny treats, a big bunny treat, the special spring chocolate bar with cute white chocolate bunnies imprinted on the bar, mini Daim flavoured eggs and egg & spoon treats.
As soon as the box was open my family ran into the room and took a piece of their favourite chocolate. This meant that the treats I was going to try and keep for Easter actually got destroyed in about two minutes. It was hard to even take the picture in fact. While the Easter bunny treats are being saved for a hunt around our house on the big day, my family were quick to try the Daim mini eggs, which my mum found were full to the brim with Daim treats, that she was pleased to see as it meant that the product had been filled right up. The next treat we tucked into was the egg and spoon, which have been a huge favourite of mine for years. Filled with mousse like cream, the product was just like it was before and the perfect little edition that I think kids could wake up mum and dad with on the big day instead of making a big mess in the actual kitchen.
As they moved around the box, my family were quick to open the boxes full of Easter eggs and were pleased to find the little added treats. In our home the Mini Egg one would be my mums, the Oreo one would be mine and the Crème Egg one would be my dad’s, as we are obsessed with all different tastes and flavours which these eggs definitely cater for. And one additional bonus was that the products haven’t changed in size at all, they are in fact the same size as they have always been. Win! Easter is definitely in full swing now in our home lovelies and these treats are always going to be a special addition in our home, because they remind all of us of when we were little and will hopefully make my niece and nephews remember the same thing.
While I don’t think we will eat it all, I am definitely going to be using the leftover Cadbury chocolate to make some Easter nests and other sweet treats for the neighbours. Thank you so much Cadbury and your amazing team for the treats!
What Easter treat are you most looking forward to lovelies?

Hey Lovelies, We are back today with another great interview from the makers of the upcoming film ‘Cumulus’ lovelies and today I am sharing with you all the great interview I did with the animator of the film, Ryan Lancaster lovelies!
Together we spoke about his visions for the film, how he achieved something so beautiful and his reactions to his creations…
Firstly how did you become an animator and what was it about the industry that made you want to be one?
As a child I was always fascinated by animation. I would spend hours watching re-run of Wacky Races and The Beatles animated movie, it really caught my imagination. I’ve always had a desire to create my own stories but for a long time I didn’t know how. It’s only when browsing the internet and seeing independent animators upload their own animations did I realise that animation was something that one person could actually do. I started playing around with animation software at school and found it really rewarding to animate.
When you were first made aware of Cumulus, what was it that made you want to be the animator for the film?
I was first made aware of Cumulus when the team emailed me about looking for animators for the project. It caught my eye as I was looking for animation work and it was quite rare for someone to come in contact out of the blue with an animation project. As I looked into the project more I started to get interested in the story and the style of the art.
There is something within the film that reminds me a lot of the work in which Studio Ghibli did, was there any moment in which when making the film that you were inspired by the work of other animators?
Yes the style is very reminiscent of Studio Ghibli, which is quite an intimidating comparison! As the sole animator of the project it would be ridiculous to expect a perfect recreation of that style, but I’ve tried my best. Seeing the initial artwork for the animation I was reminded of animation such as Ernest and Celestine and The Snowman.
Were you given any rules or guidelines when working on the films animations, or was the director and producer open to you developing the film through your vision?
I was given a storyboard and script to work with, but the director and producer were always open to feedback and changes. This would mainly revolve around slight timing changes or slight changes in scenes, nothing major. It is ultimately their project and I just try best to replicate what they want.
The film is currently applying to be shown at a number of film festivals, what is it about this film that you think makes it so different to others?
It’s a very positive story with a happy ending, which is nice! Not to say that stories taking on darker subjects or stories steeped in cynicism are bad of course, it’s just nice to occasionally have a simple story with a positive message.
The film is about appreciating the people around you, who do you appreciate for helping you so much while making this film?
My parent for housing me while this project was going on, God knows they must be sick of me, haha! My friends for offering me encouragement and advice throughout the whole project. The Cumulus team for this exciting opportunity to work on such a cool project.
Finally are you working on your next project yet? If so could you tell us something about it?
I’m currently working on a series of very short, very silly animations with a friend right now! Featuring a ridiculous detective and his stoic partner who is a ghost. Very early days right now but I’m excited to be working on it!
I have one more special interview on Friday with the crew behind this great film lovelies and it is the big one! Oh yes it is the interview I did with the film’s director, so have a look out for it then!

Good Afternoon Lovelies, Now how are you at skipping lovelies? I will admit that I can do it but it is not my favourite thing at all to be honest aha! Although it does make me happy, and if it makes me happy then I am sure many of you are happy doing it to!
So when I heard that Sports Relief were asking all of us to take part in a skipping challenge to help raise money I had to share it with all of you lovelies, because it is a great way to get happy, keep fit and burn calories! After finding that two thirds of the UK find it hard to skip without smiling and that it is the go to sport for celebrities, the Sure Skipathon is the perfect way to keep those New Year’s resolutions up to lovelies, as well as getting Sure to donate the £200,000 they have promised if they reach the one million skips target, that Katherine Jenkins is supporting.
Speaking about the event, she said, "I’m a big fan of skipping to keep fit and I make sure it’s always incorporated into my weekly routine. Skipping is one of the most fun, cheap and effective exercises you can do. When you skip, you can’t help but smile! The Sure Skipathon for Sport Relief is a great incentive to get moving for a fantastic cause.” To make sure lovelies you know all the best skills and requirements, the British Skipping Association have provided these tips to help you lovelies…
Use the right length of rope. To check this, stand on your rope with both feet and hold the handles up. The perfect length rope will mean your hands are just under your armpits. As you get more confident you can shorten your rope
When you skip, always jump on the balls of your feet and keep your knees bent
When you are skipping, look ahead and when the rope gets to eye-level, jump!
Keep your arms bent and close to your body so you turn the rope with your wrists
Just make small jumps, you don't need to do huge ones to clear the rope – this saves you energy to keep skipping
If you want to skip for a good cause, no rope required, try out the Sure Skipathon, the first digital Skipathon in aid of Sport Relief
All you have to do now lovelies is grab you smartphones or computers and go to SureSkipathon.co.uk and look at the simple instructions lovelies! Or you can take part on social media using #SureSkipathon !

Good Afternoon Lovelies, How are you all today? I have had a bit of a hectic day today lovelies, but I am back now and with probably the most exciting Oscar news of the week, until the big day of course aha! Because us Brits and many of you lovelies are so looking forward to the idea of Leo bringing home the award it seems, especially the Odeon in Leicester Square.
The world famous cinema is so excited in fact lovelies that they have renamed the venue in the lead up to the big day, calling it LEODEON instead! After a large number of us took part in the Odeon found that us brits want the actor to win more so than anyone else, as he finally deserves to take it home according to many. You will have to catch the sign quickly lovelies as it will only be up until Thursday, but it will definitely make the cinemas voice heard in the lead up to the big day, as it is only the second time that the venue has changed it for a special event.
Speaking about the new name, Andy Edge, Commercial Director of ODEON UK & Ireland said; "Awards season always adds lots of excitement and magic to the year's film slate, with the race for Best Actor receiving much of the nation's attention. Our guests are backing Leo and we want to show our support too - it's about time he picked up a gong! With The Revenant picking up five BAFTAs we reckon this is the start of a large award cabinet for the film and Leo."
I HOPE LEO WINS SO MUCH! COME ON LEO! (I do love you to Eddie, but Leo needs to win aha!)

Hey Lovelies, After premiering at Sundance Film Festival lovelies, the film ‘Sleeping With Other People’ has been going around and around my social media feed for a long time and there so I wanted to finally catch the film and see what everyone was talking about. Using the clever writing of the film’s director, the film has that instant cult classic feel to it that makes it stand out as an indie film. The acting is focused and Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis are the perfect on screen pairing in the city that many believe is the city of love. Touching on the subjects within sex that filmmakers often shy away from, the film is an in depth exploration of that world more so than anything else, which does lead the audience on a bit of a wild goose chase at times, however it also brings to them a lot of laughs that they may not be expecting. And that is the real winner when it comes to this film. The unexpected comedy that makes it so great and so independent from the other films. Therefore I am giving it…

Created by a close friend of mine and an amazing team including director Ioan Holland, animator Ryan Lancaster and background illustrator Merle Hunt, the film looks amazing lovelies and is sure to be a huge hit when it is released later in the year. I am so in love with it already lovelies in fact, because it looks so much like the beautiful pieces you get from Studio Ghibli and I have a lot of faith that it is going to be as successful. So when I was kindly offered the chance to interview some of the team behind the film I jumped at the chance. Starting with the background animator, Merle Hunt, who spoke to me about the film and her work on it…
Firstly how did you find out about the film Cumulus and what was it about this film that made you want to work on it?
I found out about the project through the director, Ioan, who approached me on an excellent site for artists, Ideas Tap, which has sadly closed down now. He was looking for a background artist and had seen my work on my Ideas Tap portfolio. It’s funny because I’d never rated my backgrounds very highly on my list of skills as an artist but I do splodgy watercolour quite well and I think that’s what Ioan liked. Anyway, I was initially very flattered to be asked so agreed to meet and find out more and after that I was definitely on board. The images I went home with after that first meeting were so intriguing: misty beaches, strange cloud forests…and I was keen to challenge myself. The story also resonated; personally I liked the brave and adventurous female character at the heart of the tale, and in a broader context, the central message of acceptance felt like an important one for today.
If you were to explain to someone for the first time what the film was about, what would you say?
A young girl struggling to stay within the protective bounds set by her anxious father, finds herself on an adventure with a grumpy talking bird through a watery cloud forest. Ultimately, she stays true to her plucky spirit but also learns to see things from a new perspective. I hope that’s enough to fascinate; I don’t want to give it all away!
When you were creating the characters and backgrounds, was there an idea/image in your head of what you wanted or did you have a brief in which you followed to get the right image?
Obviously it’s important for me to be able to visualise something before I commit to paper (well, maybe not obviously but that’s how I work best) so I had some ideas before I started but for this project, Ioan really has a very strong vision for the overall look so it’s been a case of finding a way to achieve that.
There is something very beautiful about this film that makes it a bit like Studio Ghibli and Pixar related, how much influence did the look of other films impact how you wanted Cumulus to look?
While studying illustration at university, it was deemed important “research” to watch all the new Pixar films that came out and to join the anime film club! So when I came on board I was aware of these possible influences and in the end Studio Ghibli’s animations have been good inspiration for me, to achieve the look Ioan wanted. I think particularly the dream-like quality of many Studio Ghibli films has been a big influence.
The film is currently working on entering a number of film festivals, what do you hope audiences and judges will see when they look at this film?
I hope people will appreciate the subtlety of this film. I hope people will fall in love with its quiet charm. I hope people will see the attention to detail and quality that has been one of the most important things in the making of this animation.
How did you feel when you saw your vision on screen for the first time? Do you hope that others feel this to when they see the film for the first time?
I’m expecting to feel very proud, maybe a little emotional! And extremely pleased with the final outcome. However, I haven’t actually seen anything of it yet, so I’ll have to get back to you on that one!
The film is all about appreciating people around you, who do you appreciate for helping you while making this film?
That’s a good question. I’m very appreciative of the opportunity Ioan gave me to work on this animation in the first place and Gloria, our produce’s motivational and upbeat messages, keeping us all on track! I also appreciated Alison, on character design, generously sharing her studio space with me on several occasions. Oh dear, this is beginning to sound like an Oscars acceptance speech! Stop me before the music starts!
Finally are you working on anything else at the moment or future projects? If so can you tell us about it?
I’m working on a broad range at the moment, thanks for asking. I have a business plan I’m working on to launch an online shop on my website, selling cards and prints (which you can already purchase) as well as second hand china that I’m upcycling with image transfers. If people like the look of Cumulus, they might also like this project as it’s all about storytelling and fairy tales. I’ve also just completed part of the set design for a play of “The Taylor of Gloucester” by Beatrix Potter. The company (Award winning Pericles Theatre Company and Atelier Community Theatre) work with adults with learning difficulties and will be performing at this year’s Brighton Fringe Festival, so come along to that if you can, it’s magical. Finally, check out the blog I share with my sister called The Inky Fingers where we’re documenting our progress collaborating on an illustrated novel about the sea and time travel.
Throughout the week lovelies I will be unveiling even more interviews with the team to celebrate such an incredible piece and I hope you all enjoy them! I will be sharing more and more with you as I find out lovelies!

Hey Lovelies, After the success of the American version, 'The Sound of Music Live' came to England and charmed us all over the Christmas period.
With all the classic songs and an amazing set, the ITV adaptation have audiences the perfect treat, with the greatest actors to take on such iconic roles. Kata Tointon manages to captivate audiences in a way in which she has never done before, showing her true acting talents and incredible singing voice that she has kept hidden for a long time. While it would have always been hard to match Julie Andrews original Maria, Kata does a brilliant job and proves everyone that she can be places in any role. And the same goes for most of her cast. Placing famous faces in roles many would not expect them to be in the show proved that they could play them and do a great job at it. There is a real beauty to the show though and that is the impressive sets. While they have obviously been created to show audiences how creative they were being, the ease and beauty of the whole piece really stands out and shines. And because of this I am giving the live version...
4 Stars
