THE BFI ANNOUNCE HUGE SUCCESS FOR INDEPENDENT CINEMA LAST YEAR...

Good Afternoon Lovelies,

I hope you are all well? I am currently at university, but I have a few minutes’ spare lovelies, so I thought I would come on here and spend some time with you celebrating independent cinemas success last year!

Announced this morning by the BFI, independent cinemas and franchises, achieved 11% of book office takings, making it the third highest ever lovelies, as it was 17% higher than in 2014!

Many of you lovelies took to the cinema to see films such as ‘Legend’, which was the highest independent film, as well as ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ and ‘SPECTRE’. And lots of you watched the likes of ‘Games of Thrones’, ‘Galavant’, ‘Outlander Season’ ‘The Night Manager’ and ‘The Bastard Executioner’, which caused the UK TV industry to rise by 20% too.

Speaking about the news, Amanda Nevill, CEO of the BFI, said: “With spend from film production over £1.4 billion, audiences flocking to cinemas and UK box office topping £1.2 billion for the first time, today’s numbers show a golden age of British film continuing – and underlines film’s important contribution to the UK economy. It’s significant that a wide range of fantastic British independent films won the hearts and minds of audiences in a hugely competitive year, but it’s clear that the market is still tough for the makers and distributors of independent and specialised films – something the BFI is seeking to address through its Film Forever strategy.”

So now is the time to get watching even more independent films lovelies, including ‘Arabian Nights’ which is coming to MUBI in May lovelies, after it comes out on the 22nd April in cinemas and on the 11th July on DVD and on demand lovelies. As well as ‘The Restless One; Vol II: The Desolate One and Vol III: The Enchanted One’. Or lovelies you could watch BFI player and Mark Kermode's film of the week which is 'Radio On'!

And don’t miss ‘High-Rise’ which I think is going to be the biggest independent film of the year to be honest with you all lovelies!

OR if you are looking for something else lovelies, then 'How To Be Single' and 'Nina Forever' may be the one for you...
