SIR SIDNEY POITIER AWARDED THE BAFTA FELLOWSHIP AWARD...

Good Afternoon Lovelies, 

It is all stations go today lovelies aha! Is it the weekend yet? Or at least is it time for the BAFTA’s yet? Because only a few moments ago it was announced by them that the BAFTA Fellowship award will be given to Sir Sidney Poitier this year lovelies! 


With such a huge career behind him which has earned him a number of BAFTA nominations and awards, Sidney, who first began his career on Broadway, has starred in some hugely popular and successful films and TV shows, including ‘No Way Out’, ‘Edge of the City’, ‘A Raisin in the Sun’, ‘Lilies of the Field’, ‘To Sir With Love’, ‘Separate but Equal’, ‘Children of the Dust’ and many more lovelies. 

His work has also caused him to work behind the scenes as a director of nine films, including ‘Stir Crazy’ and ‘Fast Forward’. As well as being an activist for many American civil rights campaigns. 

Speaking of being chosen for the award, Sidney Poitier said: “I am extremely honoured to have been chosen to receive the Fellowship and my deep appreciation to the British Academy for the recognition.”

While Amanda Berry OBE, the Chief Executive of BAFTA, said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Sidney Poitier is to become a Fellow of BAFTA. Sidney is a luminary of film whose outstanding talent in front of the camera, and important work in other fields, has made him one of the most important figures of his generation. His determination to pursue his dreams is an inspirational story for young people starting out in the industry today. By recognising Sidney with the Fellowship at the Film Awards on Sunday 14 February, BAFTA will be honouring one of cinema’s true greats.”
