THE GREEN MAN REVIEW...

Hey Lovelies,

Many of you will remember this show I am sure, but I was unaware of ‘The Green Man’ until I was asked if I would like to review it. The BBC classic was well remembered in my home and therefore I was interested in seeing what my family had watched.

Starring Albert Finney in the lead role, as hotel owner Maurice, the show follows him as he tries to seduce those who stay in his hotel, by telling them stories of the ghosts and ghouls in which live within the walls of it. However it is assumed that he has never actually met one until a 17th century scientist begins to haunt him.

Finney is incredible in this performance and really makes the audience have a number of emotions towards him, as he portrays a gross figure at the beginning that leaves your skin crawling to a man who gets what is coming to him with the ghostly actions in which he encounters. He is able to make viewers believe that what he is facing is real and by doing so the show gets put on a higher level than recent adaptations of ghostly hauntings.

This brings me onto the plot of the series, as it is obviously the starting place in which so many other shows and films took inspiration from. It enables the audience to see a ghostly thriller that is obviously made to fit the times in which it is based and succeeds in doing so. There is no fancy CGI in this adaptation but just the imagination and clever writing in which the show’s creators have come up with, that manage to make even a more horror experience audience, fall under its spell.

Therefore this show is getting a less than ghoulish…
