#FILMFRIDAY! LAST NIGHT I CELEBRATED THE OPENING OF DRESSED BY ANGELS...

09:45:00

Good Morning Lovelies,

Last night I was out at a very exciting event, in which I was asked very kindly if I would like to attend a few weeks ago. As a huge lover of fashion as well as film, the two worlds collided tonight as they celebrated 175 years of Angels, the costume company behind some of the biggest outfits of stage and screen of all time.

Upon reaching the venue, I was greeted by some lovely people, who gathered everyone to listen to the brilliant Tim Angel, who is still working for the company now lovelies, as he spoke about the brilliant minds behind the exhibition.

Once Tim had finished speaking, I was quick to delve into the world of costume, which was held in the lower basement area of the Old Truman Brewery in which the exhibition is being held at. When I first entered the building I was faced with the most gorgeous vintage outfits that were soon discovered to be the outfits in which those who worked in the early cinemas wore during their shifts. Every little detail had been thought of in these outfits and I knew that the rest of the exhibition was going to be like this.

After going through a number of rooms in which charted the company and makers rise during the 1800s, the company then allowed visitors to step back in time to the world of theatre. It was amazing to see the outfits that so many famous people had worn during their time of the stage, including classic and new pieces, such as the stage outfit Fred Astaire wore and the outfit in which Benedict Cumberbatch is currently using in Hamlet.

From here, we were led into the world of film, which is also where I lost my entire cool. Coming face to face with some of the best British film outfits, I found myself starring at outfits from 'Titanic' and 'A Clockwork Orange' as well as many more. The new exhibition brought back some happy memories of when I saw the Hollywood Costume exhibit at the V&A and in this moment I could feel myself dying to try them on and show them off aha!

There is nothing like witnessing the outfits in which some of your heroes have worn and ones that are as iconic as some as these. It amazed me so to see the outfits in which some of my idols, such as Helen Mirren and Russell Crowe had used to make some of the best film characters of all time.

Once I had composed myself lovelies, I moved onto the TV section which was equally as cool. While I am not the biggest fan of the show it was amazing to see Jon Snow's outfit from 'Game of Thrones' in the flesh, as well as iconic pieces such as the 'Only Fools and Horses' outfits in which everyone will remember! There is nothing like seeing these in the flesh lovelies and it instantly makes you smile when you see them because you just know her wore them.

Following on from this and into the next room, I found myself coming face to face with a number of different outfits from different acts. In one corner I could see the famous outfits worn in 'Wicked the Musical' and in the other I could see the outfit Paloma Faith wore on her album cover and the crown Beyoncé wore in her concert advert. My queen’s crown was in front of me! I liked it but I wasn't allowed to put a ring on it!

The most amazing element within this room though lovelies, was the outfit in the middle of it. It was not worn by a celebrity or in a film, TV show or theatre production. No this outfit was made for the Queen's coronation and it was amazing! It sparkles and shined like no other and I was obsessed with it. It held its own in a room full of amazing pieces.

Sadly this is where the exhibit came to an end and while I could have stayed in it forever I knew it was time to get my train home. While there aren’t as many costumes as the Hollywood Costume exhibit, this one feels extra special as it takes you through the history of the items and people behind them. It was a fresh and fun way to celebrate such an iconic company’s birthday!

Thank you to the amazing people who allowed me to go. I left feeling so happy and have fallen in love again with the creators and people behind the costumes because of it.

You should definitely all go and have a look around it lovelies! Poldark's outfit is there ahaha! And we all know whose chest that has been on ahaha!
