OUTLANDER EPISODE 13 REVIEW...

12:46:00

Hey Lovelies,

Sunday’s have become all about watching ‘Outlander’ and then texting my friend Issy about all the mischief in which the characters have been up to in the episodes, as the recent weeks episodes have been gripping, action-packed, and completely entertaining, that I have had to shout to my friend about them all.

However this week’s episode, while it had the action, was not as gripping as the other episodes we have had. There were a lot of moments that felt unneeded, and while there has been a lot of information provided to viewers within it, this wasn’t the information in which we were seeking. As we have learnt more about Jamie, the episodes have been more entertaining, yet this week’s episode needed Claire more within it.

Her appearance and moments were a lot more fulfilling to audience members, as they flowed along a much better, and the heart-breaking news she has to give to Jamie in the middle of the episode, is the moment in which audiences will really feel her loss. You understand more about her and the way she is, and the strong powerful women in which the creators of the show and the author of the books has made.

In this week’s episode we were introduced to a group called ‘The Watch’, who I am not still entirely sure are and what they do. They seem like a rebel alliance, however the most you see out of them is Jamie and his brother in law going to join them in order to protect them names and to try and clear Jamie’s. There is not much involved in this on screen, however it does provide as viewers as a way to look into the future to see how the episodes may in fact may be going in the near future. As there is no way that this series is ending without a cliff-hanger.

Throughout this week’s episode though, the main focus was the baby and birth scenes within it. The creators of the show kept audiences guessing about the birth of the child and the effects it would have on the family, as more and more secrets came out across the labour scenes. These scenes in fact were very truthful compared to other shows, as she did not just produce the child in a matter of minutes, but instead as the day progressed within the scenes, so did her birth, highlighting the long process. I did think that this episode was quite clever in aiming a birth scene with a royal birth aha!

The shows plot is progressing nicely, but for me this week’s episode wasn’t as gripping or appealing as other ones had been. I was expecting so much more and something a lot more entertaining then what I got. I wanted to feel the emotions in which I have been feeling in recent weeks, which has been me on the edge of my seat, begging for the next episode as soon as the other one finishes.

Without the portrayals of the female characters in this episode, I don’t think I would have watched all the way to the end, because they were the only gripping things and there storyline in this episode gave the audiences so much. There are a lot of moments between the two that are making the show more appealing each week, as we lose the moments between Claire and Jamie even more that gripped us all in the first part of the season. And I hope they return towards the end of this one!

Therefore I am giving this episode…

3 ½ Stars
